Trying to log into an Etsy shop takes a very long time. I've researched and done everything I can do to clear and fix my browser settings. Since it appears that I'm not the only one, I can only conclude that the security settings are set too high. Etsy, please lower your security levels for reCAPTCHA. Managing a shop is becoming almost impossible.
Etsy will not see your post here-we are just other sellers like yourdelf. To reach Etsy you need to go to your dashboard>community>contat us> and foollow the prompts (breadcrumbs).
And then a bot will send you an answer that does not apply to the problem. You need to reply to that one with "I still ned help". And then wait--wand wait---and wait some more.
It might be easier(quicker) to just keep trying the reCAPTCHA
Captcha has ramped up considerably for my shops as well. I have seen more fire hydrants, motorcycles, bicycles, stairs, traffic lights, cars and busses than I ever would wish to.
Does that mean you were able to skip the bridges AND the the crosswalks?^^
How did you do this? Do you have a shortcut trick for this or an ace up your sleeve?
I totally agree with you. It should not be so difficult signing into your account because of recapcha. I constantly clear or change browsers trying to log in. I also have the vpn sign in. That should be enough. I can't help but wonder how many buyers also get frustrated if they have to go through the recaptcha to make a purchase and just give up or go someone else to make the same purchase. I already contacted Etsy seller support about this issue.
@IndigoMistBooks: "I also have the vpn sign in." This is irrelevant to logging in to a website. Also, Etsy seems to not like VPNs (they appear to block some) and perhaps that is why the security challenges are increased.
I'm guessing it's for security reasons maybe with all the issues lately with scammers
If you are using a VPN you will get a captcha so you could try without?
I had the same problem. Endless Captcha pictures while trying to sign in! So I went into my browser settings and deleted the cookies. For some mysterious reason, I was able to log in OK after that.
I deleted my cookies also, it worked for a day or two but now the endless Captcha photos are back!
Did not get any bridges, but now get crosswalks, fire hydrants and more. No shortcut tricks ... just keep clicking on.
With the apparent increase in hi-jacked shops in recent months, I seriously doubt Etsy will dial back on security. If you want a safe site, you may just need to put up with a little inconvenience.
@theMugHermit Did you try signing in under Etsy's Home page instead?
This version of reCAPTCHA (v2) does not actually depend on just clicking the right boxes.
It is run by Google and it monitors things like mouse movement routes, click, key or finger pause times, browsing and search history for that browser ID.
If you are deleting cookies, using a VPN, changing countries, masking the browser user-agent, using a proxy, or other methods to hide from Google, then it is going to have less existing data to confirm that you are human, and be more likely to give you additional tests to complete.
