partial refund?

I am trying to give a customer a partial refund.  It won't let me.  I type in the amount, and the total stays blank.  It is an account adjustment for an exchange for a lesser priced item.  I am pretty sure I am doing it right.  Is there a glitch?

You can't do a partial refund in the Etsy Seller app. Try a computer browser or a browser on your phone.

Is this a very recent order you're trying to refund?  Is it still processing?  

Is it possible the buyer contacted their CC provider (or Paypal, if that's how it was paid)?  From the Help page regarding refunds under the topics ''When can I issue a refund?'' and   ''When can't I issue a refund?'':

Are you able to use a different browser than Chrome?

It is already completed a couple of weeks ago.  I am following the directions.  I will try a different browser.
