overdue order due to shipping label issue?

i got an order a few days ago that was entirely normal. i always use etsy labels for shipping, so i went to print the label for this order. i got a new printer recently though, and i've been having a ton of problems connecting to it or getting it to print, so in short, i ended up accidentally purchasing two. i've refunded labels twice before (once on a stamp mail order that didn't require it, and another time due to incorrect address) so i just went to refund one of the labels. i realized all this after the order had been scanned at the post office, and i accidentally tried to refund the one that i put on the package. obviously, that was denied. so i just requested a refund on the other. 

the order appears as "overdue" because the refund is still processing for the unused label. it's been processing for 4 days (which has never happened). i can't complete the order because the tracking number is already in use. the tracking is functional, though. the package should arrive without a hitch. i don't know if this is something i should just let slide, or if this is a bug - none of the labels i've refunded ever took long to approve, and they certainly never delayed order completion. 

(also yes, i've sent a note just to let the buyer know)

Your post is really confusing to me---you keep saying "I refunded the label". I hope by that, you mean you asked for a refund--which will cancel the label.  When I have had to cancel a label for any reason it has always taken about 2 weeks to get the refund.

That said--I did almost the exact same thing as you once--only thing was when I could not get the Etsy label to go thru I went to pirateship and bought the label there. Then got confused when the Etsy label finally DID print and cancelled the wrong one. It got so confusing for me that finally I did not even know WHAT I had done. However, next day I found a spot on the order to "Edit" the tracking number and did so--and everything shook out just fine!

Depending on how long it has been you might look for that edit . I believe it was on the order where the tracking appears. Otherwise you may just have to bite the bullet and live with this one!

i tried to edit manually but it wouldn't let me (it said tracking number was already in use, which it was, i already shipped it) - but you might be right, and it'll resolve once the label refunds. every time i've requested a refund, it's processed in a day or so, so maybe this is just the system changing.

If you got a label refunded in 3-4 days, you are in the minority.  It has always taken at least 2 weeks for Etsy labels and the last Pirate Ship label that I requested a refund on said it could take up to 30* days (time for the PO to decided if it had been used.)

*Still waiting on this one and it's been about 2-1/2 weeks or so.

@ardenpinez  - As @ThePurplePuppy  said, you can edit the order details. You have 3 days to do this, so if you're still in that time window you should be able to enter the correct tracking number.

And don't get me going on new printers. We got a new one last year & turned grayer trying to set it up as wired. And the pages it kept spitting out while undertaking that adventure - to this day have no idea why all that happened.

it's been four days, so i don't think i can do much at this point but i didn't actually know that - that'll be good to keep in mind!
