I just realized that quite a few listings have had the quantity drop down option completely disappear. I have no idea how to fix this. I have tried deleting variations altogether, deleting and recreating variations, and nothing seems to work. Please help, this is making me nuts.
Etsy decided years ago to remove the quantity drop-down box on items $20 and over.
Quantity can be selected while checking out.
Don't ask why; it's another case of "we know best what you need in your shop".
Is this true?? But I have it as an option on some listings that are more than $20. But there are some listings where that option is not showing up.
I checked all of your over $20 items & do not see a quantity drop down box. Which are you seeing it on?
And why then is it an option to create a variation with a quantity field? That makes no sense at all......
@JacksonFabricArts Only Etsy knows why they do this. A quantity drop-down field is VERY useful when choosing yarns! Many times people think you only have one and don't even click to add to cart because they know they want multiples. My slowest-selling items are ones that don't have a quantity available showing, and the customer must add to the cart before seeing the quantity available.
this has an option for a $29 variation
The quantity drop down is probably showing on that item because one of your variations is under $20. I have some quantity variations in my shop that are all over $20 & the dropdown doesn't show.
This is really dumb that Etsy does it this way. I know some buyers will walk away from a shop if they need more than 1 of something & think the shop doesn't have more.
Wow, that is the stupidest thing ever.
I see both options for that listing, one has 4 and the other has 2 for quantity. Not sure what the others are talking about, I hope Etsy hasn't changed things! Maybe you need to clear your cache or cookies?
Right! This is all news to me! I use a Chrome browser on my desktop to create listings. I have not checked to see what this all looks like on the app on my Ipad.
so BluKatDesign, I did some testing and CanningCrafts is correct! If you have two variations, one under $20 and one over $20, it will show a quantity drop down, as long as the under $20 item is not sold out. So completely nuts. I may just create separate listings instead of doing variations.
"My slowest-selling items are ones that don't have a quantity available showing, and the customer must add to the cart before seeing the quantity available."
This exactly!!
@JacksonFabricArts I'm glad you brought this up. It reminded me that I wanted to lower the prices on a couple of listings to get below the $20 mark so Etsy would enable variations.
