What is happening with this search engine on Etsy? I have uploaded a new listing couple hours ago (more than 3 hrs ago) and still it does bot show up in searches (when searching from my friend's Etsy account / different browser).
I had the same issues months ago, still nothing fixed? When I am about to place a new listing there's a button saying "agree to pay 0.20 ct to upload the listing?" and after clicking it I am paying Etsy. Since I am paying Etsy, why my listing is not visible?
To narrow it down I have selected to search only in the Netherlands (I live in the Netherlands). I refreshed the page, also Ctrl+F5 (unconditional refresh), nothing came up.
Search term used: beetle jelly.
My listing's title:
25x Insect jelly / beetle jelly / fruit jelly cups for inverts and reptiles | peach flavor 16 gram | shipped w/ tracking
I just searched under "Fruit jelly cups" and your listing came up 1st for most recent criteria.
I just tried searching in the way I described above. Still nothing appeared. (I do search in general, as most users will search like that, if the listing would appear in a certain category it should be visible in general).
When you added your shop's location, did you choose from the list of suggestions that Etsy provided?
If you didn't choose from the suggestions then you might not be showing up for local searches.
Have a read of this help center page to see if that helps: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000344268-How-to-Add-Your-Shop-s-Location
I first tried your title "25x Insect jelly / beetle jelly / fruit jelly cups for inverts and reptiles | peach flavor 16 gram" and Etsy search could not produce it and when I'd tried it on most recent criteria it actually said it could not find this listing. However, when i shortened the title to "Fruit jelly cups" under most recent criteria it came up as first result on page 1. For some reason Etsy can't locate your listing under the fully title you used, but finds it under a shortened title.
I saw it on the first page of beetle jelly.
Also search finds this listing under "Insect jelly beetle jelly fruit jelly cups", especially under most recent criteria. This is without the back slashes. I didn't use the "25x" incase Etsy search has a problem with that too.
@cuttingsNL: Keep in mind that if everyone on this forum searched for the exact same phrase they would all get different results. Because of "personalized searches" you can NOT rely on anyone's search results to define how your listing is displayed. There are so many rating factors that sometimes even what a human would consider an exact word match does not appear to be shown in results. Your listing may be appearing on page 251 but Etsy is only showing the first 250 pages to the world.
@givemeacrown from the beginning I had set to the location I live in (in the Netherlands). Thing is... people living outside the Netherlands find my listing and I can't find my own listing with filter "search in the Netherlands". What is happening with that search engine. Had the same exact issues months ago and now I keep posting the same things again and again. Have posted 5 topics regarding this problem, for different listings, since months ago...
@BagmakerSupply from the account I am searching I usually search for isopod supplies and / or plants. So if the search AI was a tad "smart" would give me the listing. Someone wrote that they wrote the exact phrase and nothing came up.
As I keep saying from the beginning the problem is with the search engine. Not who searches for what item.
@cuttingsNL: Completely agree with you - when I am looking for something specific the search results are almost never even close. But then perhaps the AI behind the search engine knows better than I do what I really want.
First of all, be very careful of what you ship out of your country. There are some strict laws regarding shipment of plants, etc., because of the environmental hazard they may present to another country. Before listing a plant, leaves, etc., make sure you can legally ship to that country. Otherwise, your shipment may be seized by customs and destroyed.
