Why is it impossible to contact Etsy support?

Unpopular opinion - because they are otherwise flooded with people constantly asking simple questions that are answered with a quick search of the site, especially once the star seller program was unveiled. It's not impossible, they just make it difficult so only those that truly have an issue will take the time and effort necessary to find a way to get in touch with them.

It is not impossible to contact Etsy support, whether you receive support it or not is pot luck.

Some are assisted instantly and even receive help and solutions, others wait weeks without receiving 1 reply and when a reply comes it is most likely a copy and paste reply which has nothing to do with your question.. but yes you can try
