even though its being mailed a day early
That's because Etsy has unrealistic estimated delivery dates. I ignore those messages.
The carrier is saying that not Etsy.
The carrier doesn't know our order dates and processing times.
etsy label coming from etsy
I contacted chat last week because of this issue. Today is the second order in a row that shows 'may be late' despite my shipping well within processing time. I'm shipping one right now that says will arrive 2 days later even tho it doesn't even need to be shipped until Wednesday. Chat said they'd inform tech that processing times aren't being taken into account. They said to ship as normal, that my shop wouldn't get dinged for it especially if you're shipping within your processing time.
get that on my orders a lot, I just ignore it, too. It's absurd. Are we supposed to be doing something with this information, like what?
@mountainfeathers: If you see this while you are purchasing Etsy labels, this appears to be a user interface glitch. The actual order will have the scheduled to ship by date and will show display a less unrealistic expected delivery date which the buyer also sees.
Almost all my orders have this and it's rare that one doesn't. It's because etsy is being overly optimistic about the delivery date.
It is annoying and it is possible it could cause some problems but at least for me, so far it hasn't.
Someone posted a work around to make it go away and I think it was extend your processing times and NEVER ship earlier than the last day you have to ship. This trains the etsy bots to see that you are going to ship as late as possible and once the bots learn that you aren't an early shipper, they'll start offering more realistic delivery dates.
@michellepatterns: Every order essentially has two expected delivery dates. The first is the one shown before the order is marked as completed, the second is the one calculated based on the completed shipped date.
The advice you saw will only affect the pre-completion expected delivery date, but since Etsy now wants orders delivered before the customer has even placed their order it will probably backfire on the shop's placement in search.
It's because of the way Etsy adds the processing times and shipping times. I've had them tell me orders may be late for two years now, even though they are shipped before my final Ship By date. Ignore. Etsy usually doesn't know what they are doing.
Keep in mind as well that if you print a label over the weekend, Etsy will then begin to include weekend days in the estimate, even if you state you don't ship on weekends. That will take another day or two off the estimate they give, making it even more unrealistic.
Etsy wants to compete with Amazon's Same Day or Next Day shipping. So they will shave your delivery dates down anyway they can, even if they are wrong.
Just yankin our chain they is!
I get em too, freaked me out at first, now I just ignore them.
