hi! a buyer contacted me because he is unable to purchase an item from my shop.
He is getting the message “something went wrong and we couldn’t add that to your cart”
i have checked all my settings inc shipping, payment etc and cant seem to fix. it is happening on many of my items now!
Also checked my own billing and pmt info and all appears correct. Any ideas?

Are you restricting certain places from purchasing from you? If they have other items in their cart it might restrict a purchase, have them remove and just purchase, your item only.

Are they from a country you don't ship to?
I have heard reports of this for a long time now. Not sure what the cause is, but it obviously is not a good thing, and not a way to instill confidence in the site from a buyer. It seems that usually if the buyer tries again later it goes through, but they shouldn't have to do that.
With all the glitches Etsy is having that affect sales, I'm interested in seeing the new quarterly report and what kind of spin they put on it.
Only so many items can be added to a cart and then it is full. PErhaps this is the case with your buyer. Tell them to move some items in their cart to "save for later" and see if they can then add and purchase yours.
If that was the case, Etsy should be adding a very clear statement..."Your cart is full. Please purchase/remove items if you want to add others."
Hi. Did you ever solve the problem? My items get the same error. I can add all other items but mine.
You can't add your items because you can't buy from yourself.
This kept doing this to me as well - I just signed out, and signed back in again and it rectified itself! Hope that helps.
It is NOT your job to try to fix.. it is between their credit card and Etsy..this is nothing you can fix at all. Lots of Scammers start this way trying to get you to "help" them. This is the time of year for it. You only have the customers side of the story-- you don't know if maybe they maxed out their credit card.. or their card was stolen-- you just don't know. Tell them to contact Etsy to sort out.
