Was it a message in your Etsy message inbox? Go to the website to check.

Genuine messages from Etsy will appear in the 'from Etsy' folder of your message inbox.

Messages which say they are from another user are from buyers or scammers.

Buyers do not need your email address to make a purchase. Scammers however will ask for your email address so they can scam you directly.

When Etsy is notified of a scammer account they block the scammer account and you cannot reply to the message.

@MugsbyMikeDesign  No - this is a SCAM.  Do not reply, mark as Spam.

You have no sales showing in your shop yet, and Etsy already has your email.  Once you give out your email to the scammer, they will send direct emails to you, off of Etsy, that look very much like they are from Etsy, even including live chat sometimes.  The goal is to get your financial information - banking, credit cards - and some Seller have lost thousands.

Only real and legitimate messages from Etsy will appear under the "From Etsy" folder in your messages, if you view on Desktop / computer.  Anything else is a scam - and they are preying predominantly on new Sellers.

It's spam.

Orders will show up on your Dashboard.

Send that "email" to spam and thank your lucky stars that you missed a huge scam.

@MugsbyMikeDesign
You should have this on your message page warning you about scams.
It's right below that message you got and right above the message box you type your reply in.

To stay protected, stay on Etsy. Never follow links to other sites, and don’t share contact, account, or financial info with anyone in Messages. Learn how to spot spam.

You have no sales,

it is a scam

if it is not in the "From Etsy" folder, AS WELL as your inbox, it's not from etsy
