I had a customer buy 2 digital patterns 2 years ago. She had downloaded them back then as I can see it says they were downloaded. She went to download the patterns again today but she can't see them in her purchases. I did notice when she bought them a couple of years ago she had bought them as a guest. I did email the patterns to her just now. Is there something I can tell a customer when this problem arises again? Like how to get the patterns when they are bought as a guest?
I am not sure how it is done but I think they need to link those purchases to their current account (If they have one). IF they do not have an account I do not think there is a way.
I am not sure on all this because I refuse to buy digital downloads. I do know that is the case when buying physical goods if they want to leave a review or something--they must have an account to link to.
Yes, as ThePurplePuppy said, you can link a guest purchase to an account, but you need to do it through the original transaction email, which might be hard to access after a couple of years.
* Not sure why you refuse to buy digital downloads, @ThePurplePuppy - I think they are awesome and convenient!
My reason: I saw a couple of cute doggie patterns here on Etsy that I wanted to buy. REading the description I found that if I download these they are fifty two pages! If I bought a paper pattern in a store they run 5-6 pages of folded tissue. And that is for multiple sizes. Also on the larger sizes I would have to piece them together--nope--not for me--think of how much it would cost just in paper and ink and then to take the time to "PIECE" them together? I would have to double the cost of my items just to break even!
@ThePurplePuppyMy patterns are no more than 10 pages. Most are on the average of 8. And just a few have 2 pages that may need to be taped together.
That's great! However--I did not see any dog clothing patterns. Every dog clothing pattern I saw (of those I look to seriously buying) was page after page after page. Usually 40-52 pages
Yep, as @PillowDetails shared. But, I'm not sure if the information would be available after this long of a time since they checked out as a guest. I kinda doubt it. I wanted to chime in to say that I love your customer service!
By the way - as I have bought lots of downloads for years - mostly graphics - I've switched computers a handful of times, and was able to re- download from my Etsy purchase page years later.
@ThePurplePuppy My instant download crochet patterns are my best sellers and none are over 2 pages.
My patterns are my best sellers too!
@NanaLetha but but but--are they dog clothing patterns?
I really don't understand why the people who sell patterns for dog clothing need so many pages. Of course I am really old and have learned all the short cuts. Maybe they are designed for beginners?
Thank you to all who replied to my question. I did tell this customer maybe the problem was because she checked out as a guest. She said she doesn't even know what that means, guest. ugh
