the weight was well under the 1lb weight limit. I do not understand how they were able to choose priority. It was a multiple purchase order. Now I have to pay 9 dollars for something that should only cost me $4. Please can someone tell me how to fix this. This happened because I have the free shipping for $35 plus on. Thanks.
Buyers can't choose shipping class unless they pay for an upgrade. It probably is due to how you set up shipping on the items.
Are you sure the weight is under 1 pound? What is the weight you put in the listings? Do the weights add up to over a pound? Not the weight it actually is but what weight you put in the listings?
Is there a cost showing? Buyers have the option to select Priority but then they pay for the upgrade.
Check the weights you placed on each item in the listings. If the listing weights add up to under 1 pound then contact Etsy.
I will check. Someone ordered multiple items. I thought that the shipping label indicated the total weight of the combined items as I usually mark them as 1 or 2 oz in my listings but it read 8oz as the weight on the shipping label.
I have shipping profiles that allow the buyer to choose between first class or priority mail. but i did not think that when it applied to free shipping that they could still choose the select the priority option, that it would default to the cheapest shipping option since the seller is the one paying the fee.
It doesn't say that anywhere in Etsy's free shipping information. You made an erroneous assumption.
Stop offering free shipping. It doesn't help your search ranking, and you get the same amount of orders without it.
