PLEASE HELP! My account has been hacked/phished for the second time in 2 weeks! My retail prices have been inflated by hundreds of pounds, overnight I received 10 new orders (obviously scam orders). My payment account details have been changed and funds sent to different account.
I have been through with etsy and changed all of my security details but I have not received any email back since Friday, and since more scams have been going through my shop! I could cry!
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
ACCOUNT HACKED - ETSY PLEASE HELP ME!
go to your billing section, (not payment) and put the card date to today, and put the deposit schedule out to monthly, that will stop deposits
check the e-mail account is yours, if it isn't, change it back
in the security section, where you set up 2 factor authentication, log out anyone who isn't you
check the mobile phone number for the 2 factor authentication is still your mobile number
change your password
re-generate your 2 factor authentication codes
get a new bank account for etsy,
run virus checking on all your devices.
report it to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/secureyouraccounts
hopefully etsy will get back to you quickly, but if this is the second time, you need to review what you are doing, and how you are being hacked
Thank you for your reply! Yes I have taken all of these steps - it's scary as they are able to access my account with new details I provided only last week. They have out 45 new orders through today alone total 10k - it is mind boggling that this is allowed to happen without being flagged by Etsy considering previous breach! Hoping they will contact me ASAP - really demeaning not to have a call centre or even live chat when there is an urgent situation such as this!
@CraftyCornishMaids you were hacked not to long ago. You do not seem like a person to click on links or open anything you are not sure about.
I am wondering if they are getting in some other way, if that is the case Etsy seriously needs to take a look at their security
could not agree more! It took me 8 days to resolve with Etsy last time! Emails back and forth every 20 hours!
I was logged into , and don't know how,
I logged them out, before they could do anything.
Changed everything, and when I asked etsy about the phone number format, for 2FA they closed my shop - I had fixed it myself, but Etsy made it worse.
I was also logged into, from etsy the year before, and was never told the outcome of that
the recent one was
Firefox 91 on Linux | 25 Jul, 2022 | Lewis Center, OH, United States (Spectrum) |
the etsy one was
EtsyInc/5.88.0 on Android 6 | 26 Dec, 2021 | Homestead, FL, United States (Comcast Cable)
|
8 days is 8 days to long when an account has been hacked Etsy needs to take immediate action, not only for the safety of the seller but also the buyers
Completely agree! it is infuriating! I felt very unsupported through this
what is making this situation even more exacerbating is that Etsy Contact is not working on mobile or laptop - keeps sending me back to the contact landing page instead of message box - it has been like this for days! ETSY PLEASE HELP
@Birdielovebabyco I can see "Chat with us" is open here
https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?segment=selling#issue_sell_desposits_fees-contact_select
AND "Email Us" here
AND "Chat with us here"
Good Luck resolving this issue
@CryzalisDesigns I think CornishCraftyMaids problem was to do with a 2 step authentification problem and not that she was hacked
I realize this is probably not the problem... but just in case... Have you done a complete virus scan on your computer? If they're somehow accessing really recent information, that's an outside possibility.
Getting help from etsy shouldn't be such a struggle. Their double standard regards customer service is appalling (us and the SSP standards versus them and no standards...).
Crossing fingers for you.
..
@OwlAlwaysKnit if I remember right someone from America logged into her account and changed her password, she started a thread about it
they did not change my password,
I just noticed they logged in, and I logged them out,
I reported to etsy, asking about 2FA - and etsy completely messed up my shop, firstly by putting me on vacation, then closing my shop altogether
etsy blocked me, not the hacker
Oh ok sorry, yes you are right I didn't see the original post only the 2-step issue one.
glad you managed to sort it quickly @CraftyCornishMaids frightening that Etsy is not on top of this and even makes it worse in some cases by blocking the original shop owner from their own shop
yup, I wish I'd not contacted etsy, it was sorted - until they got involved.
... more recent speculation is that people are somehow piggy backing on mobiles,
but that was not my case
(as they were both USA, and I'm UK, and the ancient mobile I have, only does phone and text, no apps, and not even GPS , internet etc, and I have no signal where I live and access etsy)
Im so sorry this has happened to you, and really hope you get this sorted out as soon as possible, Etsy really need to set a direct number now for any security issues, this really is not good enough and happening far to often.
Do you have access to you shop still ?, if so can you not just cancel those fraudulent orders, and i see one of your listings is at a silly price, and noticed its that listing that they have been purchasing, can you not change that price back to how it should be, did they change anything else on your account?
Other buyers can get into other buyers accounts and place orders. I had that happen to me when a new buyer bought from me and used another account to buy from. Some how she ended up in this other lady's account. They can also change the shipping address. That was years ago. So I can see how your account can be taken over. Etsy didn't do anything when I bought this problem up.
I had this happen to me not long ago, they bought something from me using someone else's account that had not been used in over 10years, they sent the item to a hotel address, but i did not realise until the item had already gone, they left me a rubbish review even though they never even saw the item as it was sent straight back to me saying that there was no one of that name at the hotel!!! the hotel was in Austria yet the original account holder i later found out after chatting with the original account holder through their email address is located in Hungary, she was going to chat to Etsy to get her account closed down but i see its still up and running, so the fraudulent buyer might be doing the same to other shops!! really not good.
Hi @Birdielovebabyco
I am sorry that this has reoccurred, but I am escalating the matter and our account specialist will assist with a resolution to the issue.
Thanks!
