So now, there's a new thing at the top of our shop. Such and such-many years on Etsy. That's fine, but Etsy's math is off. I started my other shop in 2008 and this one in 2009. Why is Etsy saying in both shops that I've been here for 14 years. It's actually 17 years in my first shop and 16 years in this one.
Why change something if you are going to get it wrong? It's just simple math.
Makes one wonder ... what is Etsy hiding, and why!!!
@TBQSC @ChillwolfArt This must have been a temporary glitch where the sold items link wasn't clickable. I click on that in one shop or another almost every day ... and it's working fine for me! (Chrome on Win 11).
@PrairiePrimitives Yes, there are variations of the test going on. Right now I am still in this test, and I clicked onto your Sales No. at the top, but it is not clickable (it is however, under the Sections, but not at the top). *Desktop computer, Chrome, Windows 10.
There are many, many, many other glitches I would like to see Etsy spend their time fixing around here before tackling a glitch with the day I started selling here. In over 20 years of online selling in various locations and platforms, I have never once had a buyer/potential buyer ask me how long I had been selling on a site, nor comment on any dates shown on my selling sites. The date in question doesn't necessarily represent the day you started selling anyway. It is the day your account was opened, and for many sellers that may mean the day they saw something on Etsy they liked and decided to join the site and buy it. Some sellers open a new account specifically for their shop(s) and some use the same account they have always used for buying.
Yes, I am seeing all these changes/updates, and they make zero sense. Sometimes I wonder who is running this place.
My gosh, I have been here since 2008 and have weathered so many storms, but what's going on lately is just a head-scratcher. Everything they do these days is just so counter-intuitive. No. Common. Sense.
Etsy says we've been here 14 years; in reality it will be 19 come October.
Oh wow! That is what I was here looking for. Me too. It say on my front page under my shop name that I have been here 14 years. I have been with Etsy 17 years. I have talked (written) to 3 different reps and they just push me off to someone else. Tonight I asked for someone to call me - which I doubt they will. I sent all them a screen shot of my first sale and the feedback on that sale - clearly says 2008. If I click "account settings" then "account" in upper left of that page - there it does say 17 years, but no one see that except me. It is maddening. I hope we both get it fixed soon!
@PurpleDaisyJewelry -- your "17 years" is actually notated on your shopfront page in the ABOUT section (says 2008) ... and it is shown again on ALL your shop listings just below your review photos in the "etsy mini shop window" where it says 2010. OH NO, that isn't right! WAIT, looking at my "mini Etsy" it also says 2010, and yet I have been here since 2009 (as shown on my about page). Ok something has definitely changed recently... the Etsy mini shop year & About year used to both match. But not anymore...
<sigh>
On my laptop, it says I’ve been here 14 years at the top of my shop page (but it should be 18). My phone and iPad don’t show anything except “on Etsy since 2007” down in the “About” section.
But honestly, I don’t think it’s a big deal to potential buyers. I don’t think I’ve ever checked to see how long a shop has been here as a buyer and it wouldn’t matter to me if it was one year or 20.
