You Have Been Blocked

Hey everybody

I was responding to a message a customer sent today. I clicked send, and I am now sent to a page that says

"You have been blocked"

Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:

•  You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
•  Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
•  There is a robot on the same network (IP #) as you.

None of these are true, I am NOT using TOR, VPN's anything different than what I have used for Etsy the last 3 years. Account is not compromised, etc. Not sure why this happened, right when I went to send a message.

This is happening on a PC/browser

I was just blocked today with the same messages as above.  It was with a Google Chrome search.  My daughter suggested going to DuckDuckGo as an alternative browser and I was able to get in.  So frustrating as I was in the middle of a message to a customer.  I wonder what is up again with technical issues.

As an aside I tried all of the clearing history, caches, re-start - nothing helped.

Heard back from Etsy chat that they will add my report to their investigation and that the engineering team is working on trying to resolve this as quickly as possible.

I had this just happen. Trying to get to chat. What luck we have, trying to print shipping labels and blocked......

If you're using chrome, you're not alone. I posted a fix in this thread:

Repeating the fix here too:
On your computer, in Chrome.
At the top right where the 3 vertical dots are, click Settings .
Click Privacy and security.
Click Third-party cookies. ...
Click See all site data and permissions.
At the top right in the search box, search for etsy  (it was the first in the list for me so I didn't need to search for it).
To the right of the site (etsy), click Delete .
To confirm, click Delete.
Restart your computer and sign back in to etsy

It's a spam message. Please do not entertain. If it was from ETSY, you'd find an ETSY tab in front of it. These spam messages have some ETSY related username and it's logo as their display image. If you dump it in the spam folder, they send you the message again from another account, with similar username and ETSY's display image. Seems like, they are working with some bots. I've just stopped responding.

It's not a Spam message. We're literally blocked and cannot access the pages on Etsy. It's not just a message...it's a page that blocks the entire website and prohibits you from doing anything.

This is NOT a spam message sellers are getting.

When I was typing a message to friend, then all at once I got this page that told me I was blocked. 

It's an Etsy issue with Chrome, (now Edge) and other browsers.

"You have been blocked"

NOW it's happening using EDGE. Using W11 with a desktop.
Same exact message on the ETSY blocked page.

I tried Chrome and so far it's ok.
I was still signed in with Edge, still the same IP address. So I logged out with Edge from Chrome.

WTF hasn't Etsy done something about this?
This post is from Aug and it's still an issue and there're other posts from last week.

Doesn't happen on other sites that I'm on.

At least the ones I get are spam. Your technical explanations could be correct, but I get the messages while I am not using the app or website. And even after that message, when I access my shop, it works perfectly fine.

@vintageNCtreasures: While this problem might be the result of some misconfiguration on Etsy's part, the 'Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention' has been reported for at least three years and has sporadically affected many other sites and all browsers. Have never seen an actual solution but presumably the root cause is the detection mechanism being used which is probably some third party service like Google reCaptcha.

Its been happening to me as well. I cleared my cookies and cache (google chrome) and worked for about an hour and then happened 2 more times. Then the next day I get on Etsy (yesterday) same thing! Im expecting it to happen again today. UGH!

What most of us are referring to is essentially the whole Etsy dashboard saying "you've been blocked", not a message.

It's a very poor idea, to leave the technical issues forum open to the public, this is how scammers are researching & crafting their techniques. 

A scammer's dream, is to pretend to be a helpful customer service rep, and they seem to be taking full advantage of it.

My shop is affected too. I spent many, many hours on it during the last 3 days. Tried everything suggested above - nothing worked completely - the problem with messages persists. My internet provider says it has nothing to do wit my IP (very logical).

Can someone, please, share the link of a human moderator in Etsy support , I’m in EU and can only send an email. The blocking page was deleted after cleaning cookies/cache. Have only a screenshot i made when the page popped-up which is useless…

I am having the same problem, just tried to open the Etsy website,

but got this message,

I tried deleted the cookies and other history, didn't work, I even tried uninstalling the CHROME browser, and install Firefox, didn't work, I restart the computer too, didn't work.

WHAT DO I DO NOW ? Any solutions ?
