I've just added over £40 worth of items to my basket. I'm in the UK and so is the shop I was going to buy from.
I added the code in the box for Etsy coupons (the only box there!) and got the message "this shop does not accept etsy coupons"
Not keen to publicise this code on social media if it's not going to work...
on their shop page, scroll down to the bottom for payment methods, are they a paypal only shop, or do they accept credit cards etc?
were you putting in the box, on the right hand side, under the price, and "proceed to checkout"
where you put the "apply etsy coupon code"
not the "apply shop coupon code" which is just for the 1 item for that 1 shop
Yes, there was no box for shop coupons, only the one for Etsy coupons
on their shop page, scroll down to the bottom for payment methods, are they a paypal only shop, or do they accept credit cards etc?
It works in shops that have Etsy payments.
Shops that do not have Etsy payments will give you that error, instead of just saying the shop doesn't use Etsy payments.
It works in your shop -- I just tried it.
The shop is in the UK, so must have Etsy payments I think?
Thank you for trying my shop, that's very kind
It's possible that they say they're in the UK but they're actually not. They could either be misrepresenting themselves on the shop front, or perhaps they're using a POD shipper in the UK but are actually located somewhere else.

I tried sharing this promotion on FB and Instagram. FB deleted it saying that it broke rules and the screenshot on Instagram was just blurred out.
Anyone have any suggestions?
@CraftyCornishMaids you're right, they only have Paypal. I didn't think UK shops could do that? I thought we all had to have Etsy Payments. Thank you, mystery solved!
If they were set up as a UK shop, they have to have a UK bank account, and can't have paypal only.
The location top right, can be set to anthing,
and even if they ship from the UK, they can still be somewhere else
It probably isn't an actual UK shop
A very few shops in Etsy payments countries are Paypal only -- usually due to the shop-owner moving internationally several years ago.
As it is not possible to change bank account currency, Etsy allowed such shops to retain Paypal. Not sure if they still do this for sellers moving internationally.
Or the shop-owner is lying about their actual location.
...
@Marmalady This is my exact scenario! I sold on Etsy from 2007-15, based in Canada. Built up a successful shop, then moved to the US in 2015 and Etsy would not allow me to switch to a US bank account, meanwhile I was closing down everything in Canada (if account were kept open I would have to pay taxes in both countries) Now I can only accept Paypal, and am not able to be part of these promotions. My only other shop is to close my shop, that I've had for 17years, with ove 10k sales. It's terrible!
self deleted...see you found the answer!
Yes it was, £46.98
@Adorabilities they are definitely in the UK, it's someone I sort of know as her kids are the same age as mine.
Well that's a mystery, then. I think there have been a few shops that missed needing to sign up for Etsy payments because their shop was dormant for several years while the policy change was being enforced. Or maybe, as @Marmalady mentioned, there was a country change at some point. But that's really rare. Strange.
@Adorabilities yes it's very odd. Her last review was 5 days ago, and she's lived in the same place all her life. Maybe her shop was dormant for a while as you suggested. Seems odd that she wouldn't have to activate EP to reopen the shop though!
Is some of the confusion on this because the 40 dollar amount does not include shipping cost?
Worked in my shop.
Remember they have to add the code at checkout where it says ‘Apply Etsy Coupon’
I was unable to download the image from instagram. But I googled YES10 and found the image on Reddit and it allowed me to save that image.
I had no sales from the $5 coupon - hopefully this will get me a few!
Does anyone know if the requirement of a minimum of $40 means it only works if it’s one item priced $40 or more, or does it count for multiple items ordered together adding up to $40?
I believe it is for multiples adding up to that amount.
I know it was for the $5.00 one as I received orders that were multiples.
Everyone is saying it has to be over $40, but here in the UK it’s saying over £40. There is an unfairness problem I think.
Etsy says it's 10 for 40, in whatever currency the buyer buys in,
so $10 for $40
CAD$10 for CAD$40
£10 for £40
Euro 10 for Euro 40
so the percentage is the same for everyone.
just like the 5 for 25 was
.... it's much easier, than trying to change the messages every 10 minutes as the exchange rate varies, which would also be far too confusing for customers
