When I upload a new listing, the word "poison" is inserted into my product description indiscriminately. As a result, I don't seem to get any sales for a week or so. Even when I have noticed this and deleted the word, it reappears at various times. Any ideas why this would occur?

something's up because it's asking me if I want to translate into english, which suggests your shop language isn't set to english.
I'm wondering if it's mis translating something....
Poison is Gift in german (apparently) which would make "mancave poison" correct for "mancave gift"
Hi CappuccinoLace,
Thanks, this might be the cause - although I've been on Etsy since 2017 and this has only happened over the last month or so.
Thanks again, Josh
Sorry, my laziness - Liz, not CappuccinoLace.
Thanks, Josh
That's alright, you can call me by my username.
Are your listings synced from another site?
It definitely appears like it thinks it's written in German. If you go to shop manager - settings - language and translations, does it give you the option to start translating? If you click that, the default language is usually at the top. What does it say?
Hi Liz,
I only sell through Etsy.
The default is German, which is strange - and I'm unable to change the default language.
Also, why would only the word 'gift' in the description be translated into German?
After a search, it seems that Etsy takes a dim view of poison and close sellers promoting/selling it!
Thanks, Josh
Yeah no idea why it's default to german, or why only 1 word is translating.
Clearly a bug, you'll have to try to open a ticket with etsy.
