Re: Verifycatiom message

Was this message from Etsy?  Was it in the folder marked Etsy or have the orange tab stating it is from Etsy?  If not then this is a scam message.

Did you give them your bank account or credit card information?  If so then contact your bank immediately. credit card to take action.

@AromaAurea

It is a scam, etsy does not take money from your card or account to verify

You always verify on your account, by going to the dashboard/finances,

You have gone off etsy, and given your card details and codes to a scammer.

As you are in the UK, report the fraud to action fraud

use that log number to notify your bank/card you are subject of fraud. If you are with a main bank, they are likely to cover it .

Cancel your card and get a new one

Re: Verifycatiom message

Definitely a scam, and I'm very sorry you were targeted. Scammers have been hitting new Sellers as well as seasoned ones.  "Verification" and QR Codes is one of the scams, as well as posing as Etsy Staff/Support, etc.   When you receive a LEGIT Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., it will appear in the "From Etsy" Folder (in Messages). If it isn't there, Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).  *"From Etsy" Folder was not on the App until recently (a highlighted blurb on the Message). The thing is, should you not see this first (and be familiar with it), you could receive a scammer's Message beforehand. Also, the App does not allow you to Mark the Message as Spam (you must use a browser instead, or use the Buyer App).

Also for future, many scammers are posing as "Buyers", stating they need your email for an Order. They don't, Etsy already has it. When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in "Orders & Shipping" (Left Column of Shop Dashboard); if it isn't there, you have no Order.  Mark the scammer's Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).  And never click on links or engage with them.

Etsy should be able to nail these FAKE accounts who are impersonating Etsy Staff/Support, etc. It's happening way too often. Here is the Announcement about the "From Etsy" Folder (currently this is in past Announcements).

Here is the other Announcement, "Protect Your Account With These Security Tips" (it is now in past Announcements).

Please do run malware checks on all of your devices, in addition to reporting this theft and stopping your card.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Re: Verifycatiom message

That is 100% a scam and if money was taken from your bank account you've been robbed. Call your bank to figure out what you need to do and what can be done to get the money back.
