Hey there (Seller from Latvia, based in Latvia). I'm having problems with tone error on my Etsy shop legal information. More specifically:
“Your taxpayer name, address, or ID doesn't match local tax authority records. Double check all your info and try again."
Completely unexplainable. The information is 100% correct since it's the legal information from my business documents. The company's name, the owner's name, the correct tax ID.
I have tried to write an email several times! NOTHING! After some time, I go to look and it seems to have been resolved, but I have not received any e-mail! A couple of WEEKS ago I wrote to the chat asking them to do something!!! I was told that an e-mail will arrive in the next few days, and you will not believe NOTHING!!! Even though I enter all the information from the documents issued to me by the Official Authorities of Latvia, Etsy shows that it is wrong! It's clear that there are many people and they can't help everyone at once, but we made an experiment from another store and they answered after a day and here they can't answer a 3-month-old problem!!! Is this normal? I think that it is no longer humane and is simply being avoided already!
Make sure that your VAT number verifies correctly at VIES:

The VAT number entry on Etsy needs to include your 2 letter country code at the start, and no spaces or dashes (-).

Some EU countries have 2 levels of VAT registration, one for domestic only, and one for trading across the EU.
For Etsy you need the EU version, which is the one which VIES will recognise.
The EU version is needed, even if you are only selling goods within your own EU country, because you are buying services from Etsy in Ireland (another EU country).
