VAT Collected Gray Oval Under Ship to Address on Completed US Orders

In checking the tracking on a few of my completed orders that are still in transit, I noticed "VAT Collected" in a gray oval under the ship to address on the delivery info tab.  As far as I know, we don't have VAT in the US, unless I missed that announcement somewhere along the line.  ha ha ha.  Thankfully, nothing in my payment account shows VAT actually being collected.

Oh dear. I assume that those orders are shipping to the US and not internationally? I do not see this on my US orders, thankfully.

I read a post a couple of weeks ago and just found it :

I think it was determined that if it's grayed out then there was no need to collect VAT. I think this may be an Etsy "improvement. "

oh great. just saw this after scrolling through. i will look at this as i was just going to attempt to contact etsy support in regards to this.

I have had quite a few orders with this VAT notice and didn't understand this either as I only sell in the US.

I am seeing this too and it concerns me. Have you alerted Etsy on this technical issue? or received any answers as to why we are seeing this for orders within the US?
