I was recently informed that several of my listings were removed due to violations of "Etsy's Standard of Creativity." To say I’m in shock would be an understatement. I am in a state of complete panic, as I personally design, handcraft, and photograph every product in my shop. Every charm, link, and chain is carefully sourced and assembled by me, and the photos in the listings are taken directly by myself.
I have been a dedicated seller on Etsy for over 10 years, and this is the first time I’ve faced such a distressing situation. The sudden removal of multiple listings has left me feeling completely blindsided, and I am urgently seeking clarification on what specifically about my items is considered a violation of Etsy’s guidelines. I take immense pride in my shop, and I am deeply anxious about the severe impact this could have on my business.
I cannot overstate how critical it is for me to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. The idea of further damage to my shop is overwhelming, and I am desperate to ensure that my shop remains fully compliant with Etsy’s policies, continuing to reflect the high standards I have upheld for over a decade.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter, and I sincerely hope for immediate assistance in clarifying and rectifying the situation before my shop is further affected.
We are just other sellers here in the forum. You need to write to Etsy.
Did you design the components of your jewelry, like the charms? If not, it's likely that there are other sites selling similar jewelry, and Etsy has decided that you're reselling these items.
Using pre-made charms and chains is allowed here, so that should not be the problem.
You'll have to keep contacting Etsy, unfortunately, and hope that they can give you more information.
Looking at OP's shop....assuming she is not just buying these items already made she IS stating "designed by" and if she is attaching charms to chains she has made etc that is etsy legal. If what you are suggesting is true I could not use pre made beads to make earrings
@heavyistheheart
I'm not really sure what you mean. I said it is allowed, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm suspecting that there are other shops selling the same charms on the same chains, and so Etsy may think they are the same items. If she were designing the charms themselves, then it probably would be a case of having her photos stolen (because no one else would have those charms.) I did a quick check for some of her items and didn't see the exact same photos on different sites.
I am in the same boat, I have not gotten an answer from Etsy. I have sent multiple videos of me making each piece and DMCA takedowns, please keep me updated if you have any word!
Your pictures are excellent - possible they were stolen and used elsewhere?
Thank you so much! Yes, I have filed DMCA takedowns, but they are never ending.
That's really too bad. Must be stressful. Do you watermark photos? These days I think they can easily be taken off but might be worth a shot
Too bad we can't have a sticky thread on this topic with the usual explanation and solution suggestions. The forum gets at least 10 new threads each day just like this.
And a moderator is posting something as a solution then removing them. There have been three today that have just disappeared. Some are saying they aren't getting the help that the moderators are promising too.
At first I as delighted to see a moderator inject themselves in with the promise of help. Now I'm concerned that they are just silencing the sellers that desperately need their help.
Yes, this is concerning. If Etsy had responsive and effective customer service, we would not see so many threads from frantic sellers. That the mods are directed to close threads on the promise that sellers will get responsive and effective customer service is even more alarming than the unresponsive and ineffective customer service itself.
@WPshoppe: "Now I'm concerned that they are just silencing the sellers that desperately need their help."
EXACTLY this! when sellers have received NO help from Etsy and sellers are forced to try to GUESS about what the problem might be.... we naturally reach out on the forums to gather opinions. and then have those threads instantly shut down by Etsy.
my case has been open since july 21, been escalated twice and i have received NOTHING from Etsy, not one email or explanation. i'm thinking of also selling on my own website.... but worry that Etsy will shut down my Etsy listings when the bots find the same thing on my website.
Regarding the inventory you have make sure your listings are are classified in the right category. Like for example made from bought supplies and assembled with your jewelry tools. Also I would go to option and download all your inventory in case you need to back up all your work and have to upload to your own private website.
@saruscraftsdid the items Etsy deleted also have celebrity pictures like the Jennifer Aniston leaf necklace you offer? That is a big no no, we can't use famous peoples image to sell stuff here. Good luck.
I'm in the same situation, although the reason for removal might have been different. AI is out culling. Mine was that AI found one of my pics on their 'search' of the web elsewhere therefore this product can't be genuine. Ridiculous. I posted on Forum yesterday and it was closed by Etsy personnel saying this has been escalated and I need to wait for email. I've emailed them but all I get is auto copy&paste. I'm hugely disappointed how this is handled for so many of us.
