@SevenOrchards: With Etsy's "personalized search" it is very conceivable that the exact same search on the same device could produce different results each time, particularly if you did other searches or looked at other listings in between.
As to the same search on different devices, who is to say that one factor in assembling results is not the device. I see the search engine results logic as being something like this: other people who searched for 'blue widget' on an iPad also looked at pink aardvarks so we will include them in results for those searchers, but people on an iPhone (browser) also looked at orange pelicans however people on the iPhone app also looked at purple kangaroos so we will include the respective item in their search results. And oh yes, iPad users didn't actually buy blue widgets so we won't show them until page 202.
