Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

I've been off and on unable to share my listings to Facebook with a picture. Sometimes it works. Mostly it doesn't. It's not me. I've cleared my cache, changed my browser, used another computer. I can share my eBay listings to FB. I can share from here to Pinterest. This has happened before. Maybe Etsy can get on this now that you solved the jumping cursor thing.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

I've seen this pop up more than a few times over the past couple of years in the forums.  I'm starting to think that maybe (just maybe) FB has a bit of an issue handing out 'free' advertising to Etsy shop owners who post their listings over on FB when they could be raking in ad dollars themselves.  Not saying that IS the issue but it seems to make sense and Zuckerwhatshisname richer.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

That could be. I also sell on FB Marketplace. Things I can't sell on Etsy because they are too new (I sell vintage) or too big and not worth the shipping cost. So I sell some items locally. FB started pushing people to pay for ads. You know, now that they have pretty much put Craigslist out of business and everyone is using FB Marketplace. I'm not paying for ads on there. Nothing sells anymore. In the old days, I'd list something and I'd immediately get inquiries. Now, nothing. I have a new from Pier One white wicker mirror on there for $15. People love wicker. The thing sells for over a hundred dollars. Not one inquiry about it. I'm convinced no one is seeing my things because I don't pay for ads. So you may be right. Maybe FB is blocking the sharing of listings.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

I started to wonder about this when I was seeing reports of the same random listing showing after users had tried to share their own specific listing to FB.  It has to be a coding thing to be able to change the url details and not just a glitch... of course, the coding could also be on Etsy's side as well to prevent shares of listings that they could be making ad dollars from - could be both.  Conspiracy theories abound!  Lol.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

in a pinch you could copy a picture from your item and add the listing link, or shop link to a post..

@Former_Member

I'm not on  FB or any soc. media.  But I recall others saying what you just posted. (There was an Admin Thread at the top of Technical Issues about this; it's no longer there).

I do believe your statement was the workaround.  Thank You.
@MadGirlRetro  Hope this works for you.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

If I take the time to do that, I might as well sell it directly then and pay myself the fees, lol.

Re: Unable to Share Listings to Facebook

maybe Im not understanding correctly..where on fb do you want to post a listing? are you trying to send the listing to marketplace? and the picture isnt showing? or are you posting to an etsy group or buy/sell group/page...or your personal profile....I meant. copy and paste your best photo, to any of those places and in the title, a copy of the link url. if someone wants to see more, they click the link and end up on your etsy shop or listing, depending on which url ( you could add both) .. it is a solution to this particular problem ..It isnt that much more work, but guarantees the picture stays put. and its free...
