Trying for a week to make my store active

I've been trying for a week to go into active status.  Etsy keeps telling me that my company name and EIN do not match; however, I spoke with the IRS today and our information is accurate.  I tried reaching out to Etsy support again today...it's not been over six hours and no response.  Do they not understand that WE (the stores) are their customer??? If we don't make money...neither do they!  How do I get help?  Thanks in advance!

I realize that you are new so probably don't know, but 6 hours is nothing in 'Etsy time'. If you are expecting answers much quicker, it may be better to look at some other site options besides Etsy, otherwise I would reign in your expectations. It could potentially take a couple weeks for them to get through their backlog of issues and get to yours. As a new shop with no sales history, it would also be hard to convince them that they are losing money by your shop not being open and making your issue a priority. Most new shops can take months to get their first sale, and longer to get consistent sales.  

I agree that you should try your SSN instead of your EIN. For some reason Etsy has an issue with EIN numbers. If you really need to use the EIN, then everything has to match exactly. The most likely issue I see is because you can't have spaces in your name here, but I would assume when registering your business there are spaces. This will cause an issue because it won't match exactly.

If you are a sole proprietor, IRS may prefer your personal name as opposed to business name.  Do you pay taxes under your business name or personal name?  That can make a difference with the IRS.

With no employees IRS considers LLCs disenfranchised businesses or sole proprietor.  

Try your personal name with the EIN instead of the business name.   Or personal name with SSN

If you have an LLC however, that may cause an additional issue.  Not sure about that one since my state does not require an LLC for me to sell. 

Just an aside, I have never felt I was a customer of Etsy's.  I am a middleman between the buyer (customer) and Etsy.    And with that in mind Etsy tends to work quicker for buyers and support, well if you are using chat or phone, this is a financial matter so email is better.  If you have a reply email from Etsy, reply back with a requested update.

Etsy has to handle probably over 100,000 requests a day for tax information since tax issues happen around the world.  I'm sorry but it does take time.  Some sellers have waited three weeks for an answer.

Good luck, I just hit the 1 month mark trying to get mine up and running stuck on the same problem. Verified with IRS all my info is live and accurate. I set up a PayPal account for my LLC which verified my EIN right away. Etsy still says my info doesn’t match. It’s clearly an Etsy problem and they aren’t interested in fixing it.
