Trying To Log In From Other Shop

I have tried to log in to the forum from both of my other shops but get the big red banner showing an "unexpected error".  Is it not possible to log in except from one shop?  And yes, I used a different browser and am on a PC (Firefox here)and Chrome (other browser). I even signed out  here on firefox and tried to sign in with other shop. I can sign in to Etsy and the shops fine--just not the forum

Any ideas what is going on--if a glitch or normal behavior?

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

Normal behavior.  If you're logged in as PurplePuppy on Firefox and access the forums, you're automatically logged in as Purple Puppy.   If you log out of the forums (but not your shop), you cannot then log in to the forums as the other shop.  And, of course, vice versa.

Keep both Chrome and Firefox open, logged in on one for Purple, the other for your other shop, and you can go back and forth between browsers.

That is why I am so confused. I am logged in here on Firefox

I am logged in on Chrome in my other shop--I first tried coming to the forum on Chrome and as my other shop--but I can't I keep getting that error--that is when I logged out on FF and  tried to log in with the other shop here (on Firefox) nope--I can ONLY log in  to the forum as purplepuppy no matter which browser I use--even logged in as my other shop on Chrome I simply can't log in to the forum at all with that shop name.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@ThePurplePuppy This might be a stupid question, but when you logged out of the shops, did you also log out of the forum as PurplePuppy?

Give this a try - log out of both shops and the forum and clear your computer's history on both Firefox and Chrome.   If you have the option selected, your password histories will also clear.   Log in to both shops, one on each browser and see what happens then.

Well, that didn't work either.   For now I am going to bed--will try again tomorrow and see if anything works!

Thank you - it's about 100 feet from my front door - I normally walk on the beach every day - unless it's too stormy... that was a day after a big storm, so the sea was still quite high

Gorgeosu photos but are you bending the rules a little?  Or is one shop belonging to someone else.  I am confused.  You make no mention of having a second shop in either profile and you can't sell the same items in two shops.

Okay I am confused and I am going to go have my lunch.  I need sustenance.

@ArtDollsbyJD

Both shops are mine,

they have my name - Heather, under the avitar,

the small square pic top left, is taken from the same place as the banner one in the other, which I though would help show they were linked

they both have very similar avitars, painted for me by my sister, so I thought it would be obvious the shops were linked

I have both shops mentioning the other in the "your profile " "about"  section in each

my name and actual address are in both shops sellers details,

And I have a ticket logged a while ago, where etsy has confirmed to me I can split my tea cosy shop, and keep my larger tea cosies in CraftyCornishMaids, and move my small tea cosies to my new shop

... not sure what I am missing, I thought I had covered all the bases?

....

edited to add, I just went and looked up the ticket, it's number 4655872
I asked if I could sell the larger tea cosies, and other things I sell, in one shop, and have a separate shop, where I just sell the small tea cosies, and move those across
They replied that I was welcome to open a second shop with those items for sale

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@ThePurplePuppy Try this: Sign in to each shop in a different browser. DON'T open a new tab and DON'T log into Forums yet.

Go to each Dashboard, click on Community & Help,
then RIGHT click on Forums in the C & H menu (it will look like the screen closes, but it doesn't)
and select "Open tab in new window"
That SHOULD open the Forums with you signed into the same shop as you are signed into for the browser. If it doesn't, I'm out of ideas.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@ThePurplePuppyThis is Barbara (ChristmasIsLove) again, signed in from my second shop on a different browser, following the process I just described, when I'm still in forums in my other shop in the other browser. I'm using Chrome and Firefox as well. If the process doesn't work for you, I suspect there's a browser (or less likely, device) setting that's messing up the sign ins.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

Due to the way Etsy (and many other sites) set up login management, a person is basically limited to one login per browser.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

I am going to answer all of you above @CraftyCornishMaids  Yes, I have done it in the past and have been successfully signed in just like you are--this time I could not do it.

@ChristmasIsLove  Yes, that is how I tried it.

I know how to sign in with 2 shops using different browsers. What I am saying is--it is not working--I keep getting the red banner and an error message each time--Both when  the forum opens and when I try to sign in.  {{{sigh}}}

IF I can't I think it might be my computer--we have had 6 electrical outages in the past 6 weeks and it is causing havoc around it. First it blew a capacitor on our AC (of course when the temps were over 100)  and we had to wait a week to get the repairman out here. It totally wiped out our coffe pot--poor Mr Coffee died. Then Friday it messed up our TV so bad  we (my husband) spent literally hours on the phone with Dish getting it  up and running again. It would not surprise me if the computer wasn't mesed up also.

I guess it is no big thing.  I just had a question and while I do name all my shops in one another I did not want my buyer to maybe  stumble across the  conversation.

It is breakfast time here so I am going to go eat and then I might try edge and see if that works. If so I will let you know.

Thanks, everyone!

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@ArtDollsbyJD  that has been going around in my head too, its stated in enough posts that you can't sell the same type of items in two shops, I know Crafty had some big technical issues in her shop a while ago so thought maybe it was something to do with that. It is confusing though.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@OwlAlwaysKnit

They are not the same things, see above,

I have the standard 6 cup tea cosies on one shop, and the small 1-2 cup tea cosies in the other, they are different things

and I logged a ticket with etsy, before I did it, and they said I could do that.

You can also sell baby hats in one shop, and adult hats in another

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

@ThePurplePuppy Since April, I (and some other sellers) have had the red bar saying ''an error has occurred'' every time I log into both accounts no matter what browser I use, Edge & Chrome.   I have to refresh my page and then I am signed in.  However, once I'm signed into the accounts and go to the forums, I have no problem when accessing them.   Maybe try refreshing?

Tried it--didn't work.  I am thinking more and more that electrical power failure did something to my computer--altho I can sign in everywhere else, even my  other etsy shop--just not the forums--strange.

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

Ok, thank you for the explanation I didn't know that, I thought if you had knitted items in one shop you couldn't sell knitted items in another, so thats good to know

Re: Trying To Log In From Other Shop

Well, the same thing is happening with edge browser. I cannot sign in with the other shop and I have NEVER used that browser for anything--I think this might even be the first time I ever opened it!  If I suddenly disappear it is because I someone how got kicked from signing in as thepurplepuppy and can no longer post in the forums. {{{sigh}}}
