Tracking

I have nine orders that show pre-transit.

All nine have been shipped. A couple have been delivered and still show pre-transit. Etsy does not take responsibility for this!

Anybody else having this problem?

Re: Tracking

What does it show on the USPS web site when you click the tracking number?

Re: Tracking

What do you mean when you say "Etsy does not take responsibility for this"? Do you mean they are not recognizing them as tracked? That your star seller was taken away?

What kind of responsibility to you expect etsy to take?

Re: Tracking

Im shipping thru USPS. Etsy uses Pitney Bowes 3rd party. Etsy says I have to go to Pitney Bowes and get proof of shipping info, but even there it shows pre-transit. Enter tracking no. On usps page and it says”something went wrong”

Re: Tracking

@PrintingRelics   You have to ask for a scan at the post office or from the carrier using a scan sheet.  Many post offices are no longer scanning relying on the sort center.

Most of your items ship as a package.

The letters/ flats are Pitney Bowes addition to Etsy labels and are not always scanned in by USPS.  flats/Letters can not be tracked on USPS site, only through Pitney Bowes site,

Did you use chat?  They don't know what they are talking about.

Use Etsy labels or Pirateship then the number is added in correctly but it still takes scanning at the post office for the item to show in transit.

Re: Tracking

@PrintingRelics: If the shipping company is supported by Etsy make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. A order still in "pre transit" usually means that the tracking information AS ENTERED cannot be validated. An unsupported shipping company or invalid / unverified tracking number equals shipped without tracking.

Re: Tracking

Did you take the packages into USPS, FedEx or UPS and ask them to scan the packages?  Do you use scan sheet and pickup?  Did you ask the carrier to scan?

Today we have to ask the carrier or post office to scan.  Not everyplace will do it automatically anymore.

It's not Etsy's fault.  Asking for that scan is the best way to get the items into transit.

If you are using flats/letters that is another issue.  Only works with Etsy labels.  Often it will not update as USPS does not normally scan flats and letters unless they are in a Priority envelope.

Re: Tracking

This is the MAJOR problem with using the Etsy Letters / Flats labels ... the tracking # is a Pitney Bowes # and CANNOT be tracked via USPS.  Many of those labeled items will forever show as IN TRANSIT and will never change to delivered. With no proof of delivery, you will have to either resend your buyer's orders or issue them a full refund.  For much better tracking, purchase Ground Advantage or Priority Mail labels ... those services are trackable via USPS website.  The GA rate is for up to 70-pounds and INCLUDES $100 insurance (I think it's the same for PM too).  Looking at your shop, you do not have any items that would qualify for the cheaper Pitney Bowes shipping service anyway.
