For the last 2-3 months whenever we upload a valid tracking number to Etsy from Aus Post it stays as pre-transit, if you click on the link it does still link to the Aus Post website, however the status never changes from pre-transit.
The issue is when a buyer raises a case for non-delivery Etsy refund from our account, as they are saying there is no valid tracking number, however there is it is just not showing the correct status on Etsy.
help!!
@CreatingMonkies: Notwithstanding the possibility of an Etsy glitch, an order still in "pre transit" usually means that the tracking information AS ENTERED cannot be validated.
"... if you click on the link it does still link to the Aus Post website ..." Does the page that opens also show the scan history for the package?
Thanks, yes the Aus Post website opens and shows the correct status of the item when it is clicked on.
If the scans and tracking are correctly updating on the AUS Post website via the link, but remains in pre-transit on Etsy, you need to contact Etsy and provide them with the order number and the tracking number / link. If they can verify it is indeed updating on the AUS post website but remains in pre-transit on your dashboard or in your app, they can manually correct this.
Once corrected, the updates from the scans start appearing on your dashboard tracking.
If the tracking is not updating on the AUS post website, then it is a glitch with AUS post, in which case there is nothing that can be done
Thanks, the problem is we have roughly 100 orders a day where this is happening, so we can't contact for every order, just wondering if there is a solution where Etsy can fix its interface with Aus Post to ensure it is showing the correct status.
You can try and report it (which it has been numerous times over the years), but I have known this glitch to be going on for 2 years or more.
The other fix which has worked for me in the past (but again with 100 orders a day may be time consuming)
Once the tracking information has been entered and the parcels scanned at the post office. If it remains in pre-transit several hours later, is to edit the postage information, just change the last number or the carrier. Then put the original correct details back in 1 minute later and save. (this worked with the glitch for the Dutch postal services)
@CreatingMonkies How are you entering the tracking information into the Etsy order?
I paste the tracking number into either the Etsy Seller app or in a computer browser when I mark the order as complete. I'm in Australia and haven't had issues with the tracking status.
e.g. I did one yesterday afternoon in my computer browser and checking it now I see it is showing "In transit" on my Orders page. When I click the tracking number I see the scans on it (with the latest scan showing tomorrow's date because Etsy's tracking miscalculates timezones).
Looking at the size & weight of your items, your domestic only shipping and your postage charges, maybe you use the Australia Post tracked envelopes?
I also use them for smaller items like photos and postcards but I find they have far less scan events than a regular parcel. I learnt early on to take them to the post office and have them scanned individually at the start of the journey to make sure they changed to In Transit status on Etsy.
That might be your problem if you are not doing the same thing.
I’m sure this isn’t helpful in any way but every single international order I send from the US- to UK, EU, AUS Canada… always say pretransit for a long time
