Titles cutting off in search, after any punctuation

When I do a search, items that have a comma or any punctuation in the title are getting cut off in my search results.

Example: My title is "Teal, Aqua and Crimson Tunic Super Comfy Lagenlook 100% cotton Size Large hand dyed clothing"
On a search results page, the title is "Teal" 

It's not just my items, every result is that way. And not just commas, all punctuation.

Yeah.... a lot of us have been working to remove all punctuation.

Of course, that would just read "yeah" in a title.

Ohhhhhh okay. Another "I'm not sure how I would have known that" moment. I guess I'll remove mine too, although some things will be super awkward.

I still cannot believe someone thought this was a good idea, especially when the Etsy gurus say commas are totally fine.

Starting at  the 8:40 mark in this video. (I have extracted only the phrases that mention commas.)

Ratish – Commas, it’s totally fine. If it really describes the product using commas you are free to use it and it won’t affect Google SEO.

Isabella – …then punctuation doesn’t necessarily have an impact but if it keeps the title readable maybe you want to go with commas.

Word on the street is that it's a test, but it's been running awhile. I had to change a title that was showing simply as 4.

Yeah, I thought it was a test too. You can fix it by removing the commas. Weirdly, full stops (periods) don't cause a cut off issue.

full stops do case the same issue for me,

I had to remove the one from my pattern, as the "PATTERN ONLY" in the heading, wasn't showing - which was a bit of an issue for me

Well then! Even in the Seller Handbook it says: 
"You can use punctuation and some symbols in your titles to separate phrases and Etsy search will still be able to read each of those phrases to see if they match with a shopper’s search."
Ugh.

That's good at least, but they shouldn't encourage their use if they aren't going to show our titles when people search. 

Thank Buddha we can bulk edit titles or I'd be a super cranky seller right now.

@DalDyeWorks  I never make changes due to tests.  But after seeing this one some time ago, I removed the commas from my Titles. It was clear that the only Titles which were not cut off, were those which had no punctuation.  I prefer it with the commas (and it is what Etsy suggests), but I prefer it less when my Titles to see my Titles chopped off.

I've been seeing some strange Titles: "Boo", "10", "Custom", and so forth. And to a Buyer who is in the test, it may very well appear that the Seller purposely wrote their Title in this manner.

Yes I get that @ChillwolfArt - I feel bad for people who aren't getting these test results who don't know that Etsy is chopping their titles off.

This kind of testing is exhausting to your customers Etsy ... in case you read this, lol.

Today I noticed that in search, punctuation is showing up again! Does anybody else see this? I wanted to check that I'm not in some alternate reality test where I can see things that others can't. I have been waiting for the day for this test to be over so I can change my titles back to the way I like them! (with " symbol instead of the word inch, and with commas for better readability) BUT, I don't want to make the change if it's not back to normal for everybody.

@RETRORAGEJEWELRY  I think it's like all tests (which are user based). It comes and goes; now you see it, now you don't.  It's always been that way for me.  Today I am not seeing this truncated Title test.

@ChesapeakeArtisan  Yes, it's the same for me as well.  Today I am not seeing the truncated Title test. I will tell you though, I never make changes due to tests.  But after seeing this test on many occasions, I removed the commas from my Titles. I don't like doing that, and I'm not suggesting you do it, but I know that users who are in the test will see the truncated Titles.  And I couldn't leave mine that way.  I was seeing other's listings where the Titles had things like "Custom" or "10 ft", and so forth.  And it looked like the Seller purposely wrote it that way.

Thanks for confirming, @ChillwolfArt. I am the same way - reluctant to make a change based on tests. But my titles were a perfect example of the stupid-looking, incomplete ones you described. Mine all start with a number and " symbol, so I had titles like - 38" - and nothing else. It made ME look stupid so I had to change the titles to fool the system. Maybe you're right that again, we should just wait and keep it as is because it could be a partial test for only some, or one that will go back and forth...
