Has anyone else had any issues waiting on technical support? I've been escalated to the technical support team over 30 times over the last 6 months that I have been trying to make a simple name change. I confirmed with irs and ss offices that my name is correct, but etsy will not allow me to make the change and shut down my shop because of it.
Your shop is not shut down but it has ZERO items listed.
If Etsy shut down your shop, I'd see a yellow banner that your shop is either working on getting orders out or that you are no longer selling here.
I don't see either message that Etsy puts on shops if they've been suspended or shut down.
ETA if you are sending Etsy new messages all the time instead of replying to that very 1st message you sent, then you go to the back of the line.
Don't keep sending them a new message.
You have to reply to the initial message that you still need help.
They have no payment methods, so understandably there's no point spending on listing when no one could buy.
It’s been 6 months. If Etsy hasn’t replied to OP, it’s clearly because they’re ignoring her, not because she sent too many messages.
If the OP sent 30 "new help requests" messages to Etsy from the help pages instead of replying to that 1st message that they got that you still need help, then all the other messages they sent goes to the back of the line.
If the OP only sent 1 help request and keeps replying they still need help and Etsy hasn't answered then that is not good.
I didn't notice they didn't have any payment methods.
@vintageNCtreasures tickets get closed in 3 months whether they get resolved or not.
This is not a case of the person sending too many tickets. It is a case of Etsy not caring about fixing tax/registration info.
@cindylouwho2
Thanks, I didn't know tickets got closed after 3 months regardless of if the issue was resolved or not.
So basically Etsy can just ignore any problems that sellers are having that should be fixed and not ignored.
I can see Etsy ignoring help messages about the star seller badge for example (because the seller didn't read the rules) but when it comes to shops getting hacked, problems like the OP is having, well IMO there's NO excuse why Etsy is ignoring them or taking weeks, months for the seller to get help (or never).
It might be because your new name violates Etsy rules or you changed the name of your store more than five times.
Is this your new name? If you did the name change and it refused then the name you want can't be used. If it was used before by anyone then the name is gone. Unless the name is trademarked, Etsy will not make any effort at name change
If you have been sending them more than one request, Etsy closes the old ones thinking it is complete. At some point they seem to shut down at answering because they think they have on other occasions.
Did you supply any other information? Tax information? Bank verification? It sounds like tax information. If you are a sole owner of your business and you pay taxes as an individual then the IRS considers you as a disregarded entity. How to Update Your Legal Name and Taxpayer Information – Etsy Help You may need to enter your SSN or EIN as a sole proprietor. There is a link to the IRS information in the article.
If you are in the US then you need to verify bank information through Plaid.
Just guessing at what you are needing. I'm assuming this shop.
@TheMarshPearl yep since Dec 2 and going to send snail mail over this bull. Same story always and they close the tickets when not resolved so a new one needs open and back of the line you go. The one ticket number doesn't show in my support ticket area but they insist it's being looked at....months and months.
New shops with any issues basically get zero support now. I know of people waiting for months on these things.
