Taxpayer ID Issue for 1 week. Need help!

I've been having trouble opening my Etsy shop for 1 week. It's been suspended because of my name and Taxpayer ID information. I really need help to resolve this issue. I'm glad the Etsy team helped verify my name, but my taxpayer ID is having a problem getting verified. I don't know if it is because of my name change but I use the same SSN. I tried emailing the person who helped me the first time but it's been 2 days now and I'm hoping Etsy follows through on helping me as a new member because I paid $29 to join, so this customer service is getting ridiculous at this point. Can someone please help me with this issue?

Did you file a name change with the IRS?

I went through the DMV to get my new drivers license with my updated last name, but as far as the IRS is concerned I don't remember. I can possibly check but I don't think I did. Thank you for this information for I had no idea.

@FemmeGlobetrotter   All forms of name must match.  That includes bank account, ID and tax information.

If you have different forms of your name then Etsy will stop the process.

If you did a name change or got married then you need to file with the IRS to have your SSN number changed to your new name.

Then all the documents need to be presented to ETsy.

@Geek2Geek   Your issue may be different from the OP who recently opened this shop.

Do all form of your names match on ID, tax information and bank account.  The ID needs to be the owner of the shop.  There is only one owner.  If you have an LLC that tax information needs an EIN number if you are not a sole proprietor.  

If you have an email from Etsy, reply back that you still need help.

Maybe, but last week everything matched and everything was under my name, this week with no input from me everything is mismatched. Now my Wifes maiden name is on the bank account, despite it being a shared account opened after we got married. The shop owner name was my name, but now it's my wife's name and its linked to my SSN.

When I went to change everything back to my name Etsy support told me I was trying to sell my shop and that it wasn't allowed. Then despite sending them my DL, my wifes DL, our marriage certificate, copies of the 23 and 24 Tax forms from Etsy that all had my name on it they reverted everything to my wifes maiden name and kept the shop suspended. We didn't even open the shop till after we were married.

It's still disabled and no one is doing anything about it. This shouldn't be a long process they have more than enough documentation to verify who I am in about 60 seconds by looking at everything we sent them.

The account holder name cannot be changed

there are other fields, like legal name, and tax info, and ssn etc but etsy has been verifying them back recently, to the original account holder

do NOT send your wifes DL and yours, etsy only wants the ID and ssn of the original account holder from 2014, - 1 person, from when whoever was the original account holder,  selling cookie cutters

Same here. Still going through this nightmare, the waiting is horrid, as is not being able to just make a phone call to get this fixed. I may have to shut down and go elsewhere. Even if and when my listings reappear, how do I trust this platform again?

I am a star seller, on here for a couple of years and going through this same nightmare. The sad part is none of my information has changed. I am just as frustrated, and quite frankly pissed off. I keep sending emails. Started a new thread. Talked to 2 people from Etsy, and they both told me to wait 24-48 hours to try and "edit" something that is the same...? Yeah, ridiculous. I hope you have better luck. This is a horrible way to join a platform, it may give you an idea of how they treat sellers. So sorry hon.

ME TOO.... please post fix if you get one.  I am so confused I didnt make any changes.  The first Etsy Rep Said I needed to change my name on my taxpayer info to list My First Name.  It had business name because thats what they told me before.  My business checking account has business name.  I made the change 4 days ago.  Now I cant make any changes to taxpayer.  Every time I try it locks me out saying I tried 5 times today.  I didnt

there are two separate things on etsy

The account holder, and their valid ID and tax info

and , if you are a business, the business registered number and info

looking at your shop, you have not put in your business registration number into etsy, or if you have, they have been unable to verify it against the info held electronically about your business , on your government website

I sell on Amazon handmade too,
I do much better there than here, however their setup and validation process is much more complicated than etsys

I have tried e-bay, the setup process is a lot easier, but I hardly ever sell anything there
