I've just listed an item and entered all the information required and tags and options within the options to list an item. Problem, however is that the Filter selections that Etsy offer Do Not Match the listings options that are offered to a seller. You can list an item as a necklace, however Etsy doesn't seem to recognise a piece that has necklace listed on it. The Search Filters ask for someone who's searching to specify what kind of necklace, which Excludes items that have been posted.
Why can't people just search for a necklace type and a gemstone for example? Why can't people search for a necklace with multiple gemstones?
Honestly, don't get hung up on the filters. Do you use them when you shop? I only use the location filter, and sometimes price or recency. I think normally most would just search for Gemstone necklace or topaz necklace.
I know some of the Attributes are required, depending upon your categories, but just do your best to select whatever is closest, and accurately describe your item in the rest of the listing.
and it might work as Etsy search results can be random to say the least

The filter is used after the person has put in the taxt box what they are looking for. So if looking for a necklace that garners too many, I might choose to filter so those attributes are applied to the search I am doing.
