Dear Etsy Team and Fellow Sellers,
I truly need your help. My account has been suspended, and I don’t know what else I can do.
I’ve been an Etsy seller for 4 years. I’ve always done my best to serve every customer with care, and I’ve consistently maintained Star Seller status. I’ve never violated any Etsy policy.
Since February 2025, my bank account has not been able to receive deposits from Etsy. For four months, I’ve tried everything — contacting support multiple times, changing bank info — but nothing worked. Eventually, my bank told me the issue might be due to the mismatch between my name format on Etsy and the bank account (since surname/given name order differs in my region).
So in June, I submitted a name change request on Etsy. After that, I received a request to provide a utility bill for address verification. I uploaded:
- My electricity bill (in my local language)
- A bank letter
- A photo of my bank card
Unfortunately, my account was suspended shortly after, and the reason given was:
"Unfortunately you are not able to provide a utility bill."
But I did not give up. I hired a professional translation agency to translate my utility bill into English. I submitted both the original and the certified translation.
Still, I kept receiving auto-replies — no real feedback or indication that my new documents were reviewed. Over two weeks later, I received a final decision: my account will not be reinstated.
I’m devastated. I truly don’t know what to do. I’ve done everything I can. I’m willing to provide any further documentation or verification — but I have no way to reach a real human being.
Over four months of my sales revenue are still locked in my Etsy account. I’ve run out of savings. I have two young children to raise. I honestly don’t know how to keep going.
Please, if any admin or team member sees this post — I’m begging for a real review of my case. I just want to continue selling, serving my customers, and supporting my family. I love Etsy, and I’ve put everything I have into this shop.
Thank you to anyone reading this. Any advice or help is deeply appreciated.
Sorry, I have no solutions. There has been a lot of posts like this from Hong Kong sellers and etsy not being able to reconcile with their bank.
Plus for some reason etsy does not deal well with any kind of change to an account and name changes are especially problematic.
Thank you so much for your reply. I truly hope someone from the Etsy team can see the difficulties I'm going through.
It's time to open a dispute with Etsy https://www.etsy.com/legal/terms-of-use#disputeresolution using the method explained in 11.c.
Please let me know how it goes! It is appalling that Etsy is putting Hong Kong sellers through this garbage.
Etsy expects ID verification documents to be in English or at least Latin characters.
I won't tell you what I think about that otherwise I might get banned from the forum.
Yes, when I submitted my appeal, I had my documents professionally translated into English by a certified translation agency. However, after submitting everything, I only received a template response saying that my account cannot be reinstated. I have no idea what went wrong, and no one has explained which part of my documents was considered invalid.
did you try doing a chat with Etsy help?
the lady I talked too was really sweet and fixed my problem
Ever since my account was suspended, I haven't been able to access the chat option anymore. I truly hope to find someone from Etsy who can communicate with me directly. I'm feeling completely desperate — this situation has taken a huge toll on me both mentally and emotionally.
@ModAngie Is there someone who could please help this seller? Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kindness. Unfortunately, my issue still hasn’t been resolved.
Did the name on your utility bill match the name on all your other documents? Even a middle name or an initial that is different can kick it out. And did the address on the bill match the addresses on your other documents? Things are getting pretty strict about verifying identity. I hope you can get it resolved soon.
Yes, all the information I provided is genuine. My name is consistent across all documents, and the address on my utility bill matches the one on my bank statement. I really don’t know what went wrong.
I'm linking this Help Center article (including important links at the bottom) in case you haven't already gone through it (starting with the section for international shops in the middle). Good luck! https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015775908-How-to-Update-and-Verify-Your-Bank-Account-for-...
Thank you so much for the information. I'm not sure if it will help, but the only thing I can do is try.
The shop is not suspended...it appears to have gone the way of permanent closing.
I can see not making public the reason for this, but at least the shop owner should be told. I know, I know, they should know the rules but sometimes they don't and it's not always the rules.
Yes, I truly feel desperate. I still have four months’ worth of sales that I can’t access, and I have no idea what the exact reason is. All I’ve received are some automated, template-style responses from the system.
Please do not ignore my suggestion above. Opening a dispute is the only thing that will get Etsy's attention, if you haven't been able to get attention any other way. (Assuming you have been trying to get Etsy's attention for 4 months through the forum, social media, emails etc.)
Thank you very much for your advice. I’ll try to figure out how to open a dispute, as I’ve never done it before and I’m not sure how to proceed. Do I need to seek help from a lawyer to do this?
@QYbagShop the instructions are all in the link: https://www.etsy.com/legal/terms-of-use#disputeresolution
A lawyer is a possible option in general, but completely unnecessary for this step.
