I'm stuck in a technical bind with my new shop setup (not the one I am posting from) at "2-Step authentication" stage.
I entered my home landline number, which doesn't receive SMS.
Unable to receive the verification code, I attempted to switch to my cell, resulting in a "too many attempts" message that persists, either I retry in an hour or in a week.
This has left me unable to complete the shop setup or delete the account.
The new half-set shop got suspended at the moment I could not pass the 2-step.
I am still stuck with an unborn shop in a tech limbo. Hoping that admins will read this and help.
SOS!
Did you download the back-up codes which Etsy generated when you set up 2 factor authentication? You can use one of those to get back in however if Etsy has suspended your account because of the perceived security threat then you will need to wait for Support to get back to you and verify you are the account owner.
You can also try responding to the automated message from Etsy. They always send a default message first - you need to reply to that email to get more help.
I have not received back up codes because I stuck at the step when you have to receive the SMS. The codes are sent after you are verified by that silly SMS.
Admins rarely come to the Forum, almost never to help with individual shop problems like yours. Add to that that it is Christmas eve and everyone has "left the building"... you won't get help for a least a few days, even through the proper channels.
Try contacting them through the Help Center on your seller Dashboard.
Even if you could get a callback, they would just refer to experts through email anyway.
Try this:
Right now it is giving me a Callback and Chat option here in central Canada.
I don't have a shop Dashboard, lol, but yes, I managed to contact Support using a link that one gets when shop is suspended. Also got TWO call backs, and after explaining the problem on a phone, I received an automated email from support with directions how to... close the shop. That's why I am here. Do you know where on can catch an admin here?
Hello Canada, I'm in Ontario. I got two times today a chance to have a call back. Explained everything. They expressed empathy and sent a message to the Team of Specialist. After that I received that automated email with how to close the shop. Both conversations with Support were plaisant, but the outcome is an automated email
Admins here can't help you with your problem, really. But here are two:
What are the @? , sorry, I am here for the first time.
The names I have listed with the @ symbols are Admins I know the names of. When you @ someone by name they are given a notification that they have been mentioned.
It is no guarantee that they are working, or will answer at all.
If they can, or are willing to, or allowed to, they will answer in this thread.
I've done all I can do. Good luck.
Understood. Thank you!
