Stuck In Vacation Mode

Hi All,

I know this same type of issue has been posted numerous times. Now it's happened to me–I got an email saying Etsy would be reviewing my tax/contact info in the next few months due to new regulations. Stupidly, I went in and decided I'd proactively check and update it now. I have an LLC now, but have been set up to sell as a sole proprietor and do my personal and business taxes together. When I entered my LLC info, my shop was automatically put into vacation mode, despite triple checking that I had the correct info. I'm aware that it can be a little finicky but didn't want to waste another attempt trying to get it working and put myself in a tighter bind. I also have my business bank account connected and went in and deleted any expired cards.

I went back to my previous settings and have a green banner saying that everything is verified, yet my shop is still in vacation mode. I sent in a support ticket, but got a cookie cutter email saying my info needs to be verified in order to sell on Etsy. I messaged back requesting to have a person look at my account. It hasn't been that long, so I'm trying not to panic, but has anyone recently had this happen and had it resolved? I'm a single mom of two and this is my main source of income, so I'm trying to get it sorted out ASAP. Any advice would be so so appreciated.

Is it possible to have a moderator forward this to support?

Sincerely,
A Very Stressed out Seller

Re: Stuck In Vacation Mode

How’d you put your llc in? I did all this this past winter and I also got the same email today but all is right so I didn’t edit anything. But what I did to go from sole proprietor to single member llc was I first checked off single member llc  taxed under my SSN when it asks if you’re a business. Here I put my first name last name and ssn. Then under that I put my llc name in all caps exactly like it is on my ein letter. I then entered my LLCS ein. Then under jurisdiction I put my state and the number from my annual report and state website for my llc. This worked right away for me and my shop never went into vacation mode. I’d double check your llc name and ein number and make sure it’s in all caps if it shows like that on your letter! Then it automatically updates your bank account name to the llc which was correct for me because my bank account is owned by my llc.

Re: Stuck In Vacation Mode

Thank you for responding! I put it in exactly how it appears on my IRS form, in upper and lower case. Double checked my EIN and Texas Taxpayer number. I don't know if I need to put it in all caps, but I'm afraid to try again. Just frustrated that my shop is still stuck despite going back to sole proprietor.

I've had my business bank account connected for years, so I don't think that could be the issue.

Seriously hurts my heart. One of my worst fears come true and I need this income to take care of my family. I appreciate your advice and will try this if I decide to enter it in again

Re: Stuck In Vacation Mode

I got it sorted out by the end of the day, thank goodness. Very grateful since I know it takes some days or weeks. Although I do feel like my visibility may be down now after being in vacation mode for just one day.

After checking my numbers again, everything was indeed entered correctly on my part. I'm in Texas, so there was a field in the form for Texas Taxpayer Number. I used my number directly from the comptroller and sales tax permit (this is what the comptroller calls it as well), but they said the number was incorrect and asked for the File Number from my LLC formation documents instead.

I would not have thought to put an entirely different number in a box that says Texas Taxpayer Number. Very confusing, so I don't have any solid advice except to be persistent and provide all the information you can to verify your business.

If you are a sole proprietor with no employees, you are considered a disregarded entity.

If your LLC is very recent it may not reflect in your tax return but if prior years it was listed that information should be on the forms the IRS requires.

Your credit card should be a business one.  You say your bank account is a business one.  Name of the account is your business name or your name as owner.  My business card and account  (I don't have an LLC as it is not worth it in my state as I have no employees) has my personal name and a business name registered with the bank.  However I did mine years ago and I don't come under scrutiny for the new laws as I don't make enough.

Make sure your LLC information matches everything Etsy has on you.  If your name deviates even by one letter that may stop it cold.
