It’s frustrating that I can’t accept new orders simply because Etsy’s verification is taking so long. Putting my shop on Holiday Mode for delays on their end is hurting my business, and I felt it was important to share my experience.
I received a yellow notification in my dashboard stating that my shop has been placed on Holiday Mode until verification is complete :
Get paid for your sales by verifying your seller info: Since we couldn’t verify the details you shared, your shop is in temporary Holiday mode, so you can’t receive new orders right now. To get paid and start selling again, you’ll need to upload a legal document (like a government-issued ID) confirming your identity in the next 60 days. If you can’t verify your info, any pending orders will be refunded to buyers."
I immediately uploaded my government ID as a verification document. After submission, Etsy provided this message:
"Your document has been submitted for review: We'll look it over and be in touch soon (usually within 2-5 business days). We may reach out if we need more details. Keep in mind: Your shop will stay in Holiday mode until we can verify your info."
Now, I’m stuck waiting while my shop remains in Holiday Mode, unable to receive new orders. This is incredibly frustrating because verification delays are on Etsy’s side, yet sellers are the ones suffering the consequences.
Has anyone else experienced this? How long did your verification take? I really hope Etsy improves this process so that sellers don’t lose business unnecessarily.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Hi there,
I'm in a similar situation and it's incredibly frustrating! I've been waiting for two days since updating my business information, and I'm 100% certain the details are correct. I've clicked the "Submit" button multiple times, but I keep getting redirected to a page that doesn't ask for any documents. I'm at a loss for what to do next.
I opened a ticket, spoke with support over the phone, and they opened another ticket on my behalf, but the whole process feels so unclear. From what I've read, others with the "unable to verify" error have been told to just wait. I wish I at least had an "under review" status to know waiting is the right step! Has anyone else dealt with this specific issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
How long is so long?
Verification is outsourced and can take up to 21 days.
It has been 10 days it is in Verification still no response
Etsy does not do the verification - https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/22504854625815-Identity-Verification-with-Persona-on-Etsy?se...
Same here. All legal/tax info has been filled and provided and uploaded but shop is put on holiday mode by etsy.
Red banner : We were unable to verify the business information you entered.
Now what? So so so frustrated. Support just repeats the same thing without providing any help.

Nothing is helpful because first they say we required full name like First Middle Last Name to same as Government Id We have done that still it is in Verification pending...
Hello. I tried this, but it didn’t work. In the Finance section, there are two parts: bank information and payment card information, both of which actually involve entering a name. When I changed the legal/tax info, the name in the bank information section also changed to match, which is actually an error because my previously linked bank account was under my personal name. Now, for the company account, I need to completely change the bank and IBAN information, but the system doesn’t allow this. Somehow, the system automatically reflected the name change from the legal/tax info to the bank information. Currently, except for the name, the bank information reflects my personal bank account details, but the name shows the company name.
Even if I wanted to change the payment card information, the company card still has my name as the company owner, so changing the payment card information seems pointless. Nevertheless, I tried changing it to the company name, but it hasn’t resulted in any changes even after 24 hours.
I’m still waiting. I have no idea whether it’s in an "under review" status or if I need to take some other action!
@InfiniteReflect: Etsy does need to find a way to improve their communication about where the status of issues like yours.
More that likely each time you change (or change back) things like your name it triggers a new verification.
Also, many of the laws that mandate these verifications want things like the legal name on the Etsy account and the name on the bank account to match exactly.
As a new merchant, at the end of the verification process I received a small deposit into my bank account from Etsy with a code that I then had to enter into the control panel. I don't know if they do this procedure for all countries.
Exact same situation here!
Once i put in the legal name/tax info...my bank account is showing up with that name instead of my personal name.
Ready to pull my hair out
I have been dealing with this for 3 weeks now with no success. I have submitted everything. Asked my CPA for help and no response. This is our busy time of year and customers think we don't want their orders. It's devastating. I never knew shops were going through this.
