Strange Results in Search

Jump to solution

I just listed a vintage Coro piece then did a search from my shop page to be sure it showed up in search. I was shocked to see an excessive number of listings from my own shop that has nothing to do with Coro. It seemed like every other listing was from my shop. A glitch maybe?

Etsy search is going to show you a lot things you have recently visited/searched for, so your own items may come up.

Do the search incognito to get a better idea how your things are showing up.  However, since Search is personalized, every person will get different results so you still won't know what others are seeing.

Yes, my understanding is that Etsy's new search engines do not necessarily show you things that you have asked to see.
That has been my experience, too.

Only one of them does that.
The other two show you currently popular things and things that they think you would like to see from your past behavior.

And guess what?  Etsy sales are down.

Coincidence?

If I am shopping I certainly don't want to see a cluster of my own items

Perhaps this is designed to flatter (for lack of a better word) you.

You, or any seller, searches for an item they sell, sees their item prominently displayed, and walks away happy. Happy but wondering why they get so few views, favs, and sales.

At this point in the game I'm certainly not looking for flattery. I prefer accuracy. I have done a search many times on newly listed items and never encountered this type of cluster. I just found it odd.
