Good afternoon!
I've noticed that my replies to customers and my personal shopping messages from sellers are all mixed together in one place. I always respond quickly to my customers.
But, I saw that my reply rate dropped recently. After checking the message history, I found out it was because of messages from two stores where I was the customer, asking for reviews. I've replied to all my customer messages.
Could you please help with this?
Thanks!
You must reply to ALL messages.
"Reply to the first message within 24 hours
Just the first message in the thread counts, not the ongoing convo.
Messages that you mark as spam don’t count.
Set up an auto-reply when you’re unavailable. It counts as a reply."
All messages need to be answered or spammed. Since you purchased through your seller account, that's where you'll receive messages from the other sellers. The system does not differentiate.
You can spam those two messages because imo they are spam. It might not help adjust your SS though.
If you use your shop account for purchasing this is what can happen. Consider creating a brand new account just for buying. That way your purchasing activity does not affect your shop's Star Seller status.
@IamLiseTemplates: As it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such.
Etsy is putting a blue text warning / advisory (blue banner on desktop, and a blue dot on mobile) on those messages they consider to be a "new message" but should semantically be called a "new thread" to warn you that they require a reply within 24 hours for Star Seller.
As @TheVintagePineapple mentioned, if the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two (but not retroactively) if the original message was within the current star seller period. BUT BE WARNED that according to Etsy "You won’t receive any new messages from that member, and they’ll be unable to reply to messages in an existing thread." https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343128-How-to-Handle-Scams-and-Suspicious-Messages
Unless you are using different accounts, attached to different email addresses, then yes, it's all one inbox.
If you don't want your messages combined then you should consider creating a second, buyer only, account.
