I was removed from the star seller because of my message response time. The only messages I don’t reply to are ones from shops I buy things from (nothing to do with my Etsy store). Is there a way to change this?
Hello there,
The Message response rate counts initial messages in new threads from all Etsy members, both buyers and other sellers. This is because fellow Sellers may potentially become buyers for your shop.
In cases like this, you may want to create a Saved Reply to quickly and easily answer messages from other Sellers. Using a Saved Reply within 24 hours will count as answering the message. If the message you've received is not a spam message, it requires a response within 24 hours. If it is a spam message you can mark it as such and it won't count towards your score. Please note that marking a message as spam will remove it from your inbox.
While it is not possible to retroactively remove previous messages from your score, we've gathered all of your feedback and we will surely share it with the appropriate teams.
Thank you very much!
Hello @CarpetCollectionAU,
As of the moment, we're unable to check the messages that were marked as spam. However, marking a message as spam will remove it from the inbox. Kindly be assured that we will take note of all of your feedback and we will share it with the appropriate team to consider for a future update. Please know that we take comments from the community to heart, and we make many changes to the site based on what we hear.
Thank you very much!
Yep, start answering all messages like the program rules state.
Or create a separate account for all your purchases.
Set up auto response.
Purchase from a separate account or as a Guest OR just reply with a "Have a nice day" to thankyou messages. Not so difficult to manage once you "get into the swing of things"
I had the same thing happen to me this month. Now I know I guess, but bummer!

@TonsOfPaper I have 2 questions
1) "If the message you've received is not a spam message, it requires a response within 24 hours" How does Etsy determine that the message was not "Spam" if it is marked as such?
2) There is also an issue of the "Spam" responses being exempt from the 24 hour rule.
I trust both of these issues will also be passed along to and addressed by the "appropriate teams"
At present, it is possible to do a Message clean up any time before the end of the Month using "Spam" and this is not fair for those of us who actually adhere to the 24 hour rule at all times.

@TonsOfPaper Thank-you for responding to my enquiry. It is much appreciated. I do hope the appropriate Team can have a look at these concerns.

Thank you for "reaffirming" that.
