Star seller

I have not dispatched any item late in the last three months. I always send a tracking number. I cannot do Etsy labels as I live in France. Please can you tell me why in the last few days my dispatch badge has dropped below the threshold for this badge. I also don’t know why my reply to messages is below 95%. I answer all messages within 24 hours. I cannot understand this system no matter how many articles I have read on your site.

@FleursEnFrance: Even if Etsy Support or the Help Pages sent you here this is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).


Check the applicable CSV files from your Star Seller page - they will give you details on how your percentages are calculated.

 

When you look at the message file remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone), only the first message of a new incoming thread is included (all that counts for Star Seller), and usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied. Keep in mind that the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads.

 

When looking at the shipping file make sure that *Had processing time?* = yes, *Ship by* has a date, *Tracking/label date* has a date, and *Shipped on time?* = yes. Remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone) and an order may not be included until after its scheduled ship by date regardless of when you actually shipped.

I always allow 1 to 3 days but always post on or before the second day to ensure I do not miss the deadline. The same with messages. 24 hours of receiving a message is 24 hours it doesn’t matter wahat time zone. I feel the algorithm for star sellers must have an anomaly as I cannot seem to achieve it and sometimes my percentage rating drops for some unspecified reason. I have no control over the tracking label date as this is in the hands of the shipping provider and country of destination. If this is the reason you have dropped my percentages then that is very sad as I ship all over the world and they can prevent me from becoming a star seller. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for reading my query and replying but it doesn’t solve my problem. I have read the notes for star sellers and how to achieve it. It may be easier if you live in the USA.

I have not had this issue, but what I have noticed as a European seller is that I have to recheck the tracking for the first 24hrs as it sometimes switches to another shipping provider choice. 

So then I have to go back into the order and edit the tracking information to switch it back to the shipping provider I originally selected.

As far as I know this is only affected European sellers but could be wrong

Today I got two messages. 1 st time customers. 1 st messages I replied within 24 minutes and my star seller messenging dropped 2 % to 93%. So out of seller badge territory. There is something very wrong with their system.

@FleursEnFrance: "I have no control over the tracking label date" Are you saying that you cannot select the shipped date when you mark the order as complete (that is the date the Shipping CSV file uses as the *Tracking/label date*)?

I can file a completed order for shipping but perhaps there are shipping delays and that is the problem despite my efficiency this end, and the item does not arrive in the prescribed time as set by Etsy.

Bonjour, ma réponse sera en français... Il se peut que le badge ne vous soit plus attribué pour des raisons financières. Si votre chiffre d'affaire pour les 3 derniers mois est en dessous de 250€, le badge n'est plus attribué. Même si les autres services sont à 100%. Pour entrer en contact rapidement avec le service d'aide, vous trouverez une bulle blanche sur fond bleu (type BD) en bas à droite de votre fenêtre : cliquez dessus. Il s'agit de sous-traitants, mais ils peuvent soit vous aider soit envoyer votre requête à un supérieur. Bonne chance pour la suite...

Used to care about Star Seller, then I sent an order to Ireland, that had no tracking available, and another that shipped late. I lost my Star Seller badge, but, in all honesty, it had zero effect on my sales, and in fact, they've been better since I lost the badge! If people like it, they'll buy it, that's all there is to it.

Yours isn't the only issue with the star seller stats calculations. It is also messing up processing time stats! You can read about it here https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Order-Missing-Processing-Time/m-p/143213127#M796703

My suggestion is that anyone who has an issue should file a trouble ticket with Etsy. That is the only way we might possibly see any change. I started with the chat and when they couldn't resolve the issue they escalated it and I received an email with a "request" number. After that, you are able to update and respond to that particular issue through that number. Don't start multiple tickets though because that just slows down the process.
