Star seller status RE:message platform flaw!

I have responded to EVERY message within an hour on my shop …. Someone placed an order and then requested to cancel it.

I immediately issued a full refund and under the cancel a transaction category… I included a message that they were issued a full refund. Because I didn’t respond under the message category I lost my star seller status because the platform is terribly flawed!  ….I did respond.  Shameful !

Yes, a note included within the refund itself is not a part of the convo system, so it doesn't count.

This is one of those things that many shopowners do once, get dinged for it, and then remember not to do again.

You did not respond. You refunded and canceled. Not the same thing.

That's how the rules work. EVERY initial message requires a response or to be marked as spam, even if you "replied" to a Help Request or in a different context by canceling. It's not a flaw. The message rules are very clear, and they are right on your Star Seller dashboard.
