I had a package that was due to be sent Jan 16. That was a federal holiday and the post office was not open. I ship only through USPS using Etsy's shipping labels. Etsy still indicated that it was to ship on the 16th, even though it was impossible for me to do so. Etsy knew it was a federal holiday. Why didn't they mark it to be shipped on Tuesday Jan 17th? Instead, I lost percentage on the shipping part of the star seller badge. I don't understand why Etsy Support cannot correct this.
@VintageFindsByKay: A mentioned, Etsy does not support any holidays - it is clearly an intentional decision by them. Anytime that a shop sees that it will not be able to ship on or before the date Etsy has calculated, all it needs to do is change the scheduled ship by date https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015588087-How-to-Set-Processing-Times-and-Ship-By-Dates?s...
Etsy does not account for holidays. They never have. You can move your ship date out by one day, or set your processing times to account for the holidays. It is a worldwide site, and even though it was a holiday here, it was not in other parts of the world.

Jan 16 was the first time in over six years that the shipping date did not reflect a USPS closure day. If someone uses USPS (federal holidays are observed), then the shipping date should be reflected by Etsy. Notification of a change would have been nice to have.
Etsy have never allowed for holidays, for ship-by dates in US , or anywhere,
I think more people have noticed it recently, because of star seller, but it's not changed
people have been moaning about it here, since I started in 2014,
but Etsy has not changed it in all that time, so I doubt they will now.
I dropped off packages at the drop box in the USPS office and they actually were scanned and moved. I was surprised.

Etsy has never accounted for any holidays.
It's not a change -- you may just not have had any orders due to ship on holidays before.
This is one of those mistakes that we all make once. Most of us, at least. Thankfully it was only one order for you.
It would be nice if holidays were considered, but they are not. It would need to be done by allowing us to set "days off" for ourselves, but that's not possible here.
I agree that it would be nice to be able to set days off for ourselves (federal holidays here in US when post office is closed).
Also, I guess six years is a fairly long time to go without an order due to ship on a holiday. Maybe I just didn't notice it before.
It does seem like that, but we're probably just more focused on it now because Star Seller is always watching and judging, like @CraftyCornishMaids mentioned.
There are NUMEROUS flaws in their "Star Seller Program". Response times to buyers are also screwed up. Unfortunately, they don't think things through thoroughly when implementing many of their "roll outs". Very frustrating and many have closed their shops to move to Shopify. Maybe Elon Musk will buy them out.....lol
It just doesn't seem fair to count the shipping due date against us simply because the post office isn't open on that day. I'll just have to remember to change the shipping due date during all of the US federal holidays. Wish me luck!
Thank you to all of you for your quick replies. They were appreciated.
Extend your processing times to account for post office closures. I have mine at 1-3 days to cover postal holidays and some Saturdays that I'm not able to ship.
