I have not received star seller as I have not responded to all messages within 24 hours. The issue is, I recieve lots of scam messages from “Etsy” and do not respond to these. I reply to all genuine messages from customers, usually within the hour. Does Etsy expect me to reply to scammers to get the star seller rating?
"Does Etsy expect me to reply to scammers to get the star seller rating?"
No, etsy expects you to mark spam or scam messages as spam. Note that the sellers app does not have the 'mark as spam' button but the etsy shopping app does so you can use that one to 'mark as spam' if you prefer apps. Otherwise just use the full site (desktop/laptop) or even try the browser on your mobile device.
I didn't know the buyer app has the spam message option. Thanks for the info!
All new messages need an action. Either reply or send to "Spam". If you didn't reply, and you didn't send them to spam, all Etsy sees is you ignoring your messages and not dealing with them in a timely manner.
In the future, mark scam and spam as "Spam". Problem solved. Sorry you were blindsided by this.
@SeraphicPrintsGB: The Star Seller metric for messages is very simplistic and binary - either you replied to (or marked as SPAM) that first message of a new incoming thread within 24 hours or you did not.
At last report you cannot mark a Message as spam using the seller app only a browser, even your mobile browser, or the buyer app.
SCAM messages should be marked as spam to meet the criteria required for star seller. Genuine messages from Etsy will appear in the 'from Etsy' folder of your message inbox.
Also, some friendly advice: You shop appears to be full of trademark infringements. I recommend you learn about Intellectual property as soon as possible and remove all the problematic listings.
@SeraphicPrintsGB: You need to include the licensing information for all of the trademarked and copyrighted names and images in your shop in your listing, otherwise buyers (and Etsy) may conclude they are counterfeits. Including the licensing information will show that you are not selling those items illegally. "Inspired art" or "fan art" is not a valid defense to trademark / copyright infringement for profit.
Hi, I was worried about IP infringement with my listings. I have added these listings purely because Etsy seems to be full of this type of thing. Searching Guinness for example comes up with hundreds of results of guinness inspired art (using name and logo) some of these shops have thousands of sales. Is this simply because they have never been caught using the logo?
Others are doing it is never a defence.
If it's wrong, it's wrong. And it's wrong. If the rights holders come after you and sue you, they won't be interested in how many others are doing it.
@SeraphicPrintsGB
You don't check other listings on Etsy to see if a listing might violate IP. You check special databases for that.
It's simple: if your listing would violate IP, you don't list it.
