I recently received an automated message on my etsy shop that read:
Hello Annie Louise Wilkins, Take control of your Etsy shop with Nеw Mеthоd ЕТSY Sео! It's the perfect way to improve your SЕО and get found in search. Check it out on YouTube and see the results for yourself! youtu.be/Hbsg3ilMEJ8”
I did not respond being that this message does not need a response, nor was it from one of my customers. However this one message that I didn’t “respond” to within 24hrs has made me ineligible for the Star Seller. I’ve been working so hard to earn the star seller badge, as I am new to Etsy seller. I feel this is an unfair calculation to include in my stats. Can this be corrected?
Marking messages as spam takes them out of the star seller data. Mark the next spam message as spam and next time the star seller bots won't take that message into account.
If you want the Star Seller then it was necessary. You received a message and didn’t respond or send it to spam so you got dinged. If you get dinged then you probably won’t have everything needed to get the SS.
There is nothing to be corrected, you just need to follow the rules.
That wasn't automated, someone sent it to you, so they could make money out of getting you to look at their you-tube video.
send it to spam

Thank you!
And most of all, please stop stressing over the SSP. It does nothing for you or your shop. Treat your customers as you would like to be treated as a buyer and for the problem buyers.......put your big girl panties on.
Etsy has at times used Star Seller as part of the search algorithm. Star seller can, at times, depending on how Etsy is changing search, impact your store.
@StudioAnnieLouise The criteria for Star Seller is that you must respond to all messages, or mark a message as spam such as the one you received.
