I only have 1 missed message that was answered after 24 hours, 100 % on time dispatch/tracking and 5.0 on reviews in the last 3 months. Guess what I didn't make the star badge. Etsy says Congrats on two badges. I hate Star Seller program! It's a joke.
Hello there,
Kindly note that the Message Response rate needs to be at 95% for you to receive the badge for it. We strongly recommend that you download the CSV file of your Message Response rate so you can get a closer look at the messages that were counted as late. You can go to your Shop Manager dashboard > Star Seller dashboard page > selecting the Message response rate tile > selecting the Export link next to Message breakdown.
To calculate your Message response rate, you can divide the number of messages that got a reply within 24 hours by the total number of messages you received for the current review period. The result is the percent of messages that received a reply within 24 hours. This should match the percent that appears on the Message Response rate card.
On the other hand, please know we will take note of your feedback about the ability to set the auto-reply for more than 5-days. We will be sharing it with the team to consider for a future update. Please know we take comments from the community to heart, and we make many changes to the site based on what we hear.
Thank you very much!
When did you find out you had to respond to all messages within the 24 hour period?
What do you mean? I've always known since they started the program last year. I've always tried to answer to all messages. Just one message and I didn't make it. I was like Wow!
I assumed you didn't know since you were caught off guard.
It's all about the numbers. "Just one message" can be inconsequential in a shop that receives 100 messages every month. "Just one message" can tank the whole badge in a shop that receives only a handful. It's purely a math thing whether a shop hits that 95% response rate or not and it's one of the requirements that is super clear, cut and dried. I figure that the message response rate is one of the metrics I have complete control over.
Mark it as a spam.
I use to check the CSV few days before the end of each month. It helps me keep the status. But by the way, the status doesn't give me more sales
THE SAME THING happened to me. I was baffled when I saw I didn't get it since I didn't answer 1 message in a 24-hour period, and this was on July 4th in the United States when I missed this message. I'm not sure why holiday days still count towards this, but I think they expect us to work 24/7 at this point and always be able to answer messages.
You can set an auto reply for weekends and holidays
July 4th was not a holiday everywhere.
If you know you are going to be away from your computer and not paying full attention to messages etc, just set an "Away message" which will count for SS stats
Me too. Missed one message apparently. I didn't realize I got it.
I have missed the rating on messages as well. And I have replied to every message in less than 24 hours. This has been going on since the beginning of the program. Ugh.
As Fallen Angel states, it's the only metric that WE CAN CONTROL.
We can't control the number of sales we get.
We can't control the amount of the sales we get.
We certainly can't control the reviews that are left for us.
We can to a certain degree control the shipping - we can print the labels and give them to the post office/postal clerk but if they don't scan them, that's also out of our control.
Logging in at least once in 24 hours to see if there is a message is not and should not be that hard to do, yet it's the biggest complaint about the Star Seller Badge that there is.
Sad that the ONE thing we can totally control is the one that a lot of sellers (based on Forum posts only) can't seem to handle. Sadly too many sellers think the messages are unimportant and just ignore them basically ignoring the rules of the program.
It's hard sometimes to keep up with my messages when I have so much work and my auto reply was turned off after 5 days. It would be more convenient if auto reply doesn't need to reset after 5 days.
