Star Seller - speedy dispatch being incorrectly calculated.

Hi All, 

Very recently I have seen my speedy dispatch rate go down and down and down. I checked the CSV for Aug/Sep/Oct and have noticed that Etsy is incorrectly assigning the dispatch date compared to what the royal mail shows (The UK shipping service). i.e. I can prove something was dispatched on the 09th Sept but Etsy is recording it as the 10th Sept. I am UK based - does anyone know if this could be a timezone issue? I contacted Etsy but they sent me here? I just want my stats to reflect accurately so I can get my badge.

When you're dispatching items, are you dispatching them the same day they're due? Are you handing the packages off to the shipping courier that day so it's scanned by them?

I think this is causing some of the issue yes as I am dispatching they day they are due to dispatch but yes their first scan is the same day and it is picked up by the royal mail tracking but Etsy doesnt seem to register this first scan for some reason. I am trying to manually work round it now by extending my dispatch timelines and make sure I dispatch either the day of order or the next day but it is quite frustrating as I know some people look at the shipping timelines when thinking of ordering.

Are you using Etsy shipping labels or purchasing direct from RM?

Hi I am not using Etsy - I have the royal mail website linked to Etsy so i can mark them as dispatched there and Etsy auto updates within 10 min to reflect the change.

@MoorePerfectPieces: "... incorrectly assigning the dispatch date ..." Not to discount the possibility of an Etsy glitch, but the dispatch date is based on the date you selected at the time you marked the order as completed (shipped).

thanks for replying. I always mark my packages as dispatched the day they dispatch so there is never a discrepancy in that way. I got caught out by that in the early days

If you buy etsy labels, you select the dispatch date, from the dropdown menu

If you mark as completed yourself, you select the ship date, from the drop down menu.

...

If you go in afterwards, and add a QR or tracking number, etsy updates the date, to the date you amended it.

I buy directly from royal mail and have royal mail linked to Etsy so when i mark as dispatched in Royal Mail it auto updates my Etsy page. I always make sure I mark as disptached the same day as I actually dispatch.

That is a Royal Mail problem with it's API,

Royal Mail pass the info through, it looks like they are not passing the correct info through, even if it looks OK on Royal mail

It is only a recent issue so not sure why it has suddenly started this year. Also a lot of people are having a similar issue even if they purchase though Etsy. 

I definitely think an API issue with Royal Mail is plausible but there wouldn't be a solution for any UK seller so if Etsy insists on this metric award system then it needs to support us in a solution

The solution is to buy labels from Etsy

If you buy from a third party, and their sync doesn't work properly, it's down to them, not etsy

Royal Mail are the only ones who can fix their api

It seems like A LOT of other people are having this issue so I assume it must be an Etsy Glitch - It is frustrating!
