I have not shipped an order late EVER and ALWAYS include tracking information. Yet Etsy just dropped my shipping rating to 92% for "failing to include tracking information". I closed December as a Star Seller with a 95% rating for shipping and just today was dropped to a 92%. No way did I neglect to ship on time or fail to include tracking. Something is screwy with Etsy's monitoring...Very frustrating.....
If you were at 95%, then you missed something prior to this last zing. My shipping always reads at 100%. It has never dropped below that. We had a holiday on Monday and Etsy Does Not Acknowledge Any Holidays. It is considered to be a regular shipping day. Could that be the zing?
There's a glitch right now where sellers HAVE entered tracking and etsy's crack programming somehow removes it, therefore causing a ding on their shipping score.
Several sellers have reported to etsy and they're aware of it.
I had also always been at 100% until a month or so ago, when I started to notice that orders were temporarily marked as late/untracked when they were not.
My guess is that it has to do with USPS's strange "this item cannot be tracked on this site" glitch. I'm not sure if that's still happening, but USPS would show that status for any USPS packages (no matter where the label was purchased) for a day or so.
This normally wouldn't be an issue, because it sorts itself out after a few days, usually. But if it happens over the last few days of the month, a badge may be missed due to no fault of the seller.
I had an order show up as untracked, even though I purchased shipping labels through Etsy and it certainly was tracked. All of my packages go by USPS Priority Mail. I have no idea why it was marked untracked.
Luckily, I had enough orders during that timeframe to make up for one glitch (on Etsy's side of things).
When was this?
I was trying to find out if this also happens to sellers who buy Etsy labels, or only to those who don't. This answers my question.
It was more than three months ago, because I don't see it in my star seller stats anymore. Wish I could be more specific about the date.
Everything in my sold orders has tracking so I can't tell from looking there.
Thank you, that's ok.
I had been wondering if it was just yesterday as part of Etsy's glitch, and also if it happened to Etsy label buyers too.
If there is a delay on Etsy's part, why do they mark it against Sellers?
Isn't it kind of like giving a student an "F" because their test hasn't been graded yet?
Right. The paper has to be graded, then the teacher has to get around to entering the grades in their database, and then the school has to verify that the database is correct... All the while the student is being told they've failed.
From the above comments, it is clear that this has happened to many others. I like the idea of the Star Seller program because it denotes responsibility, good products and service, but if Etsy can't keep track properly, sellers will be penalized for things they cannot control. I see also that others have contacted Etsy for help but did not receive any. That has been my experience also with other issues that I sought answers or assistance with. It would really be great to talk to a customer service person on the phone but I realize that will never happen.
Just an update on the help angle: I was told there'd be an email from a specialist telling me it was corrected; so far this email has not arrived, and nothing has been corrected.
Don't know if yours has been fixed as well, but am reporting here that mine is showing as corrected this morning.
Progress has been made.
Etsy has so many issues that never get resolved!!!
I got an order recently that has been cancelled and refunded yet Etsy shows it as overdue for shipping!!
No way to contact Etsy as they closed the phone lines and the Twitter support thing and the help thing on here is totally useless as there is no way to just contact them!
It goes round and round with questions and even if you can email them no one gets back to you or fixes issues!!
Sorry, but basically Etsy sucks!
I am so sick of them telling us how to run our shops!!
I have been on here for 12 years and ALWAYS sent Priority and always had tracking numbers!
So now this one lowers that darn Star Seller stupid thing to 86% as I have no tracking number, NO BECAUSE IT WAS REFUNDED!!!!~
WHY??? Because of an Etsy glitch that when my customer went to my shop and 2 other shops and tried to buy items it said items were sold when they were not sold!
I lost the sale due to that Etsy glitch and they need to fix it!
Etsy needs to have some customer service for sellers who pay a lot to sell on here and cannot be seen or sell!!!!
The Star Seller thing is stupid and hurts small shops with little profit and or sales!!!
The 5 star review has always worked just fine.
Etsy continues to do silly things that only hurt shops and or make things less convenient and NO WAY to get ahold of ETSY!!
What company wants to make itself totally unavailable to it's customers????
The search algorithms are terrible, and all kinds of other stuff comes up besides what you search for on here! Etsy needs to fix it!!
I am tired of Etsy reminding me to do stuff I have been doing for years!
I really wonder what the heck all the Etsy employees do there??
So tired of it........

cancelling and refunding doesn't affect the star seller stats
I have 100%, with cancelling and refunds,
was the the tracking number added after the ship-by date?
@CraftyCornishMaids I have never really looked at mine before but have always wondered why mine had never moved up for weeks, so just downloaded the order History, and they are saying i have 23 orders with out tracking, so thought i know i had 2 because my printer was playing up the other day, so just gone into 5 of the orders they are saying has no tracking, they all have tracking and all arrived on time, so whats that about? this seems to be ones with the new number that Etsy has been putting in the order beginning with 07.
I use click and drop, and put the QR number in myself
I have always had the approach I will use etsy for as little as possible!
@CraftyCornishMaids it seems to be when it first started, so some in November and then the rest of them are showing no tracking in December, luckily for the rest i was using tracked 48 due to the strikes otherwise god knows how many it would of told me i had no tracking for lol, you got to love Etsy !
I feel your pain. We make them a lot of money, and they treat us with the LEAST amount of professionalism possible. Basically ignore all issues with technical problems. They are run by BOTS and possibly a handful of employees with little or no experience. Sad for us sellers. Yet I see they screwed the store again today, by trying to put more useless bells and whistles taking the priority ONCE AGAIN of the descriptions of what we well. Ridiculous situation definitely!!
I've actually not had any trouble getting an Etsy service rep to call me.
If you page through your issues in help, and come to a final screen option that says "I still need help;" click that and you get an option to "have us call you" and enter your phone number.
They generally call me in a matter of seconds. Now, whether or not the rep can actually help you with your issue is a different matter, but I have found it an easy, fast and useful way to speak with an actual person from Etsy when I'm right in the middle of an issue. And, sometimes, they resolve it or give me more insight.
Etsy won't let me post the direct link.
I agree with you and I do not think ETsy has many actual employees. The pretend customer service barely speaks English. That is why they keep asking questions since they have no clue what you are talking about. They are not ETsy. You have to beg many times for someone to report anything. Etsy does not take care of sellers even though we are the true customers.
I WISH ETSY WOULD READ ALL THESE POSTS AND REALIZE THAT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REALLY LACKING! THE STAR SELLER PROGRAM IS ESSENTIALLY A GOOD IDEA BUT ONLY IF THEY ADMINISTRATE IT PROPERLY. I WOULD BE DELIGHTED IF A REPRESENTATIVE FROM ETSY WOULD CALL ME AND ASK FOR MY FEEDABCK! (1goodeye)

I do not think they care what sellers think.
I've read various reports where the corporate people actually have a figure for how much push back they'll get re any given subject. I remember one statement from one of their COsomething where it was less than they'd expected so they were happy about that. Forget that sellers were not happy with something, we're just numbers to them.
