I just noticed that my Star Seller docked me for not responding to emails that were automated in response to a purchase I made on my account, not from an actual customer or sale. Is there anyway to correct that?
No because you need to reply to all messages or mark as spam.
@laneandharris: Have you checked the applicable CSV file available on your Star Seller page to confirm which message(s) Etsy thinks you did not answer within 24 hours?
"... for not responding to emails ..." eMails are not considered for Star Seller, only Etsy messages (previously known as Convos).
Probably almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but as it says right on your Star Seller page, you must reply to the FIRST message of a NEW INCOMING THREAD for Star Seller.
It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such. Those have always been the rules.
If the unanswered message is not a Help Request, at least for the time being it appears that marking an unanswered message as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two if the original message was within the current star seller period. Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
Bots do not read messages, they do not know who they are from, repeat message or other message from buyer, seller saying thanks, spammer, your best friend saying hi. “All initial messages” need a response, within 24 hrs. been that way since it’s inception, probably not going to change any time soon.
