My 100% rating went to 90% when I bought something in Etsy! I was Buying, not Selling. As a Buyer the Seller sent me a Thank You message. I shouldn’t have to respond with 24 hours when I am the Buyer. So disappointed that this happened. Is there any way to get it fixed with Etsy?
@theloftinleitchfield : Probably almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but there are innumerable threads about your exact issue.
At least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered message as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two if the original message was within the current star seller period.
If you have not yet done so, you might want to read https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller?segment=selling
Hello, and welcome to the Etsy Community Forums!
We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. You can check it out here:etsy.com/starseller.
Having said that, and since this thread does not pertain to a technical issue, it will be closed to prevent it from going off-topic.
Thank you!

From the Etsy Help Centre information, the following is a highlighted post
"The Message response rate only applies to the first message in a thread. Initial messages from both buyers and sellers on Etsy are counted towards the Message response rate. "

UnfortunatelyEtsy makes it quite difficult to appeal any suspected discrepancy in SSP metric calculations as they direct Sellers back to the "Technical Issues" section of Forums
"Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."
A simple polite "you are welcome" would have "fixed" it for you. The rules have been as plain as could be from Day One more than a year ago.
I am always taken back a little when people think they don't have to respond to a "thank you" online when they probably wouldn't ignore it if they were face to face with the thanker.
