Hello,
I am a new seller on Etsy and understand the importance of becoming a Star Seller on Etsy. So I engage my social media followers and my existing loyal customer in supporting my new business listing on Etsy and made purchases.
So far I have successfully completed 18 orders with all 5 stars reviews, shipped out on-time and everything needed to be awarded the Star Seller. I also understand I need to wait 90 days period instead of the standard review at the beginning of each month. Having said that, my 90 days ends around Nov 19th and have waiting since then to be awarded the "Star Seller" as I have exceeded all the requirement. But so far, still nothing. Worst yet, come December all my hard work was erased and now it's telling me I need another 5 new orders to qualify.
I have worked so hard the first 2 months to try my best to do everything I can to earn the Star Seller, but it's really disappointing with the system error. Please help!
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
@ParadiseMonarchs There are two different 90 day period considerations at work here. The first is the requiremat that a Seller must wait 90 days after their first Order to become eligible for the SSP. The second 90 Day period relates to the SSP Review period. This is always the immediate past 90 days calculated from the first day of every Month. This, obviously, changes every Month as outdated data "drops off" to include the most recent Month's data.
It looks like you have had 18 Orders and most of these were placed August and September. How many Orders have you had for the October, November and December period? These are the Orders which will contribute to your SSP Badge to be awarded 01 January.
SSP updated once a Month, on the first day of the Month. So, if you had your first Order August 19 your 90 Day period would end 19 November. This means that you will be eligible for the next Badge on 01 Jan. But, be aware that the August and September Orders and all other Data will not count as they have dropped of the "back-end".
@ParadiseMonarchs You will need
1) 5 Orders placed between 01 Oct and 31 Dec
2) USD $ 300 in Revenue between 01 Oct and 31 Dec
1) AND 2) are essential prerequisites for eligibility for SSP.
IF a Shop achieves 1) AND 2) THEN the following apply
3) 95% Messages responded to within 24 Hours between 01 Oct and 31 Dec
4) 95% Orders sent on Time and With Tracking between 01 Oct and 31 Dec
5) Average Review Star Rating of 4.8
It is posible to have individual Badges for one or two of these metrics if overall SSP Badge is not awarded but ONLY IF 1) and 2) are achieved.
When you look at the SSP Page, the "Current Review Period" will show by default. The "Past Review Period" (01 Sept - 30 Nov) stats show performance for the SSP Badge which was awarded 01 Dec.
Lastly SSP Badges are NOT permanent. Each Month, the immediate past Month is added and the 4th Month excluded. Consequently, Shops fall into and out of eligibility each month, depending on performance.
So.. if you have no Orders for Oct and Nov and 2 in Dec, you will need 3 more Orders before 31 Dec to qualify for the Badge to be awarded 01 Jan.
But be aware that Orders received on the last day/s of the Month may not update on the System in time to contribute to the SSP Stats for that Month, but will contribute to the 01 Feb Badge.
This is just a forum, so you need to contact etsy. But there have been lots of errors of all kinds in the Star Seller program, and most don't get fixed, so don't hold your breath. Sorry. Just don't let it upset you--lots of customers don't even pay attention to it, altho there are sellers who will disagree with that.
The Etsy Help had suggested to post the question in the forum. See their recommendation here: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new#issue_sell_star_seller-solution_primary
@ParadiseMonarchs You are absolutely correct. Personally, I think it unhelpful to just say "this is a peer-to-peer forum" when someone asks for help.
The Etsy Help Center does, indeed, advise people with SSP issues to post in the "Technical Issues" section of Forums.
The "theory" is that most information people require can be found in the Help Center Material or gained from peers.
There have been some instances when a Community Specialist has responded to specific/unusual issues, so Etsy does seem to monitor this section of Forums and intervene / take action when this is appropriate.
However, for a question such as yours, it is usually the case that Etsy leaves it to fellow Sellers to explain!!!!!!!
You have to wait until January 1. Etsy does not award the badge mid month. So the full months of October, November and December count for January.
Do read the information on how the program works. For each month, it is the previous 3 months that determine the awarding of the badge. You began in the middle of the month which would not count. "This is the qualification criteria for Star Seller, based on the last three months of your shop data:" You need complete 3 months Etsy Star Seller | Celebrating the best in customer experience
To get it for December you would have had to have full three months of Sept, October and November. To have for November it would have been August, September, October.
As the months drop off creating a new 3 month period, the requirement of $300 and 5 items for the new 3 month period. IF you did not get 5 items over October, November and December then you won't be awarded the star badge. You can earn other badges for reviews, shipping and messages.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it. That explains it as all my 16 orders were places in Aug/Sept. Currently, I have 2 orders in December, does that mean I just need 3 more orders to qualify to earn "star seller"? I have fulfilled all the other requirement.
Another question is that once I earned "star seller" status/badge, will I lose it or do I need to continue to fulfill all the requirement every 90 days to keep the status/badge?

Just to clarify...
Criteria 3 & 4
It's 95% or more required for message response and on time shipping with tracking not 100%.
