Hello, Etsy support gave me the link to this forum to see if I can get help. Hmm? Anyways, I received a message--without notification--that Etsy placed in my spam folder. I unmarked it as spam and replied. Now, Etsy has marked down my response rating to below the 95% threshold. I spoke to someone through a chat and they said they'd look into it. Afterwards I received an email which stated, "...if Etsy has marked a message as spam that you subsequently move out of the folder, that will not impact your Star Seller eligibility.". However, after two days, the markdown is still there.
Etsy's marking of messages as spam was all over other forums. Some sellers came back and said Etsy corrected their mistakes and fixed their message stats. This morning I chatted with another agent who wasn't able to help me, unless they got something moving behind the scenes that I'm not aware of?
Here is an excerpt of what they said,
Well, I don't know what exactly happened, but I'm back to a 100% shipping rating.
It generally takes a few days for your score to recalculate so hopefully it will. I don't think I have heard anyone in the forum report that their scores have indeed been adjusted due to this glitch and Etsy support will say anything to end the phone call.
The spam marking was in a Reddit and a couple of Facebook forums.
From my own personal experience what they are telling you isn't so. I moved an old message from spam to my inbox and lost star seller. Their own system doesn't function the way they think it does and then for help they refer you to people that are not Etsy staff? This is really poor customer service. Legitimate messages going to spam is a glitch that has been happening for a while now. They likely won't fix it because then they would have to fix all the thousands of them for everyone. I have just gotten into the habit of checking my spam folder as well as my inbox every morning. The good news is that not having star seller really doesn't affect your sales or search placement. Buyers don't know what it is and don't care if you have it or not. It's just a game sellers play. Sorry but none of us can help you.

What does shipping rating have to do with messaging? I'm confused.
Oops, I meant messaging.
Usuallly, spammed messages will come off your record after a few days, even if you answered late.
