If it's a knife then it will be because knives can no longer be sold on Etsy to buyers in the UK.

You can't buy a knife on Etsy in the UK, in any shape or form. Even if its a charm (not a knife) fish knife (not really a knife) butter knife (by name only, really a spreader) or a folding knife with a 2-3 inch blade (which is legal).

Etsy is looking after us (!?) so they won't show us knives, but you can list them and they'll be seen in other countries you sell to.

Etsy has no legal way of checking age verification for selling knives to UK buyers

or ensuring sellers use age verification postage

There was an expose TV programme on the ease of buying knives on etsy, so they have stopped them being sold here, you can sell them to other countries.

UK law needs age verification, it needs specialised software, that checks things like electoral roll etc,, and it needs age verification postage, etsy can't cope with either.

Amazon UK has age verification software for cutlery, and only allows it if it's sold from their warehouses, (FBA) as they then do the age verification postage

e-bay UK only allows cutlery at the moment, but has purchased 3rd party age checking software, and has notices everywhere for the seller to use age verification postage.

with etsy being 1 world wide site, they struggle to do something similar,
as the person they age verify, may send to a different country, and the country being sent from, may not even be able to purchase age verification postage
and I'm not sure, how many countries age verification software would work with, the uk ones check uk electoral roll etc, not sure there are even software packages that do it for most countries

Thank you for the heads up. I need to review how I proceed, It is a shame as vintage cutlery is one of my best sellers. Vintage dinner flat ware is basically knives and forks.

@BlissfullVintage   I am in the US and I can se all of your knives/flatware, etc. The restrictions are in the UK only.

Just letting you know they are seen and available outside your country. For now , I would just leave them be as probably they will sell to the US and other countries. I doubt there is anyway they can be seen/sold in the UK
